TEENAGE MOM STABBED TO DEATH IN DESTIN

A 22-year old man is charged in connection with the stabbing death of his son’s mother last night
in Destin.
Kevin Ordonez-Garcia was located shortly after the stabbing by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s
Office as he walked along Harbor Boulevard. His clothes were covered with blood.
Deputies had been called to an apartment at 323 Mountain Drive around 7:40 p.m. Sunday, where
they found 17-year old Gabrila Espinal Lainez face down near the front door with stab wounds to
the chest.
She was pronounced dead at the Destin Emergency Room.
The victim and defendant’s 16 month old soon was found unharmed.
Garcia is charged with homicide.

[ STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE / NARRATIVE ]

On November 18, 2018 at approximately 1939 hours, the defendant, Kevin M. Ordonez-Garcia, did violate
Florida State Statute 782.04 Murder.

On the above date and time, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to 323 Mountain Dr. Unit 4, Destin,
Florida, in reference to a death investigation.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a phone call from (850) . A male caller advised he
needed an ambulance at the above address due to a female/victim, Ana Gabrila La Espinal Lainey, being stabbed in the
stomach area with a kitchen knife. The caller advised OCSO dispatch the suspect’s name was, Kevin Ordonez, age 22,
who had just left wearing a white jacket and brown pants.

The victim succumbed to her injury at 2030 hrs and was pronounced by Dr. Owen of the Destin Emergency
Room.

During the course of this investigation, patrol deputies located the defendant, Kevin M. Ordonez-Garcia,
walking in the area of 383 Harbor Blvd. Destin, Florida. The defendant had blood on his pants, shoes, and sweat shirt.
The defendant also had defensive marks to his left shoulder.

During the course of this investigation, patrol deputies located a steak knife in a dumpster south of Mountain
Dr. near the location above. The steak knife matched the description provided by the caller. A witness, Silvio Fredy
Ovalle, described having taken the victim to meet the defendant. The witness stated he observed a heated argument

between the parties. The witness stated he observed the defendant pull the victim’s head back by the hair then stab her
three to four times.

After the defendant stabbed the victim he proceeded inside the house where he retrieved a sweat shirt and left
the residence. As the defendant left the residence he picked up the knife which was on the ground. He then discarded the
knife into a dumpster south of his address. This was all viewed by witness, Silvio Fredy Ovalle.

Post Miranda the defendant did not wish to speak with law enforcement without the presence of his lawyer.

Based on the above stated facts I have reason to believe and do believe the Defendant, Kevin M.
Ordonez-Garcia, did violate Florida State Statute 782.04 Murder. This offense occurred in Okaloosa County where I am
a sworn Deputy Sheriff.
