El peor de los casos arroja un valor aproximado de 4 mm de elongación en aluminio para una pieza de 4 m de longitud (equivalente a 1 mm por m en cada eje) considerada de forma aislada.
La deformación diferencial final será función de la dilatación de la subestructura sobre la que se soporta que puede considerarse a temperatura ambiente al verse protegida de la irradiación
solar. De este modo y para el mismo caso el diferencial de dilatación pasa a ser de 1,93 mm (Comparándolo con tubos de aluminio a 29°C de temperatura ambiente) lo que origina una
contraflecha derivada del gradiente térmico de 13 mm / m de pieza).
Teniendo en cuenta que este es el comportamiento para elementos metálicos macizos, el efecto de la temperatura en mallas o metal perforado no es el mismo produciéndose una pérdida de
temperatura por efecto borde muy superior a una pieza solida. Por ejemplo: Una chapa de 4000 x 1000 x 2 tiene una superficie de borde de 0,02 m² y una frontal de 4 m² . La misma pieza con
una perforación R5 T7,5 tiene una superficie de borde de 2,24 m² y 2,39 m² de superficie frontal, es decir el 11200% más de superficie para evacuación de calor y sólo el 59,69% de superficie
para absorción de temperatura.
Con realizar las perforaciones de las fijaciones 1 mm de diámetro mayores que el nominal de las fijaciones estaremos cubiertos frente a este efecto para el ejemplo mostrado.
