HB 3459 - STATEMENT OF LEGISLATIVE INTENT
REPRESENTATIVE HOCHBERG: Mr. Pitts, you are the author of HB 3459 and
you are also on the conference committee on HB 1, and you were also the chair
of the Education Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee. You probably
have a good idea what all this stuff does or doesn t’ do?
REPRESENTATIVE PITTS: Well, I depend on you for a lot of that.
HOCHBERG: Well, thank you, Mr. Pitts. Let me just make clear that in Section
68 where you r’e adjusting the guarantee deal, you did not intend for that to have
any effect on any other sections of code, any effect on any other parts of Chapter
42––those continue to function in the manner that they would function?
PITTS: That is correct. We have no intention to make any other changes in
Chapter 42. It was just a method––a compromised method on how to get more
money to our schools.
HOCHBERG: And this is a method of flowing money to the school districts and
giving them that entitlement to that money for this period of time?
PITTS: That is correct.
