INVITATION TO BE MEMBER OF A TRANSNATIONAL NETWORK AGAINST RACISM AND

XENOPHOBIA IN EUROPE

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia, an institution ascribed to the Directorate – General
Immigrants Integration (Spanish Ministry of Labour and Immigration), is developing the project “Living
Together: European Citizenship against Racism and Xenophobia”, co-financed by the European
Commission (DG Justice, Freedom and Security) in the framework of the community program
“Fundamental Rights and Citizenship”.

This European project, in which 13 organisations from 6 European countries participate (Spain, Portugal,
The Netherlands, Ireland, Finland and Sweden), pretends to promote a European discourse of tolerance
based in the generation of coexistence and respect arguments, recognition of the difference and building a
European citizenship away from any kind of racism, xenophobia and intolerance. In this sense, we have
argued and agreed on a Citizenship, Tolerance and Dialogue Decalogue that resume main arguments in
favour of coexistence and respect in the framework of an inclusive and tolerant European Citizenship.

Within this context, we want to launch a “Transnational Network Against Racism and Xenophobia in
Europe” that will be able to detect and react behind new racist and xenophobic discourses, as well as to
promote the values of democratic coexistence and tolerance that we think should constitute the European
Union basic pillars.

The Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia and the Living Together project’s member
organisations invite you to take part on this “Transnational Network Against Racism and Xenophobia in
Europe”.
