Digital Citizenship Unit Angela Clark and Kristen Champion

Identification of Learning Problem

The teacher that I chose to collaborate with is a high school math teacher, Kristen

Champion. She is one of our younger teachers at the high school. She is very receptive of

bringing technology in the classroom, and she does what she can with the technological

resources that we have. Mrs. Champion teaches juniors and seniors. One of her concerns about

Digital Citizenship is being professional on social media. Her students will be graduating soon,

and she wants them to know how to conduct themselves when using the internet. We discussed

if the students really understood what a digital footprint is and what it could mean in the future.

Learner Analysis

The learners in this study are juniors. These students have a reputation since 9th grade.

They did not score well on the EOC assessment in Algebra I or Geometry. They are very much

distracted with each other as well as their mobile devices. This class does not have any 504

plans or accommodations. There are 24 students that make up the class. There are 19 boys and

5 girls. There are 11 students that are African-American, 1 students is Hispanic, and 12 students

are Caucasian.
