Faculty and Instructors:

Professor BJ Olasode (Nigeria). Professor of Anatomic


Pathology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife Osun State.
Director Ife Ijesha Cancer Registry Nigeria. His major research
interest and expertise is in central nervous system tumors.

Dr Gabriel O Ogun (Nigeria). Pathology Services, UCH,


University of Ibadan, Nigeria (to be populated)

Dr A Salami (Nigeria). Pathology Services, UCH, University of

Dr Rufus Akinyemi (Nigeria). Neurology Services, UCH and Neuroscience


and Ageing Research Unit, IAMRAT, College of Medicine, University of
Ibadan. He’s PI, Ibadan Brain Bank Project and NIH- funded African
Neurobiobank ELSI Project. He plays a leading role in the genomics and
biorepository core of the NIH – funded SIREN Study, currently the largest
study of stroke in Africa.

Prof. Sebastian Brandner (United Kingdom). Neuropathologist at Medical


Research Council Prion Unit at the Unuversity College of London Institute of
Neurology and Chair of Neuropathology and Head of the Division of
Neuropathology at Queen Square, one of the largest academic neuropathology
departments in the UK. He has a major leadership role in capacity building in
neuropathology nationally and is Training Programme Director for London. His
major interests are brain cancer research and prion diseases.

Prof. Herbert Budka (Austria). Professor emeritus of Neuropathology at


the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, and past Senior
Neuropathology Consultant at the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland.
He has been practising diagnostic neuropathology for more than 45 years
and is Past President of the International Society of Neuropathology (ISN).
His main interests in research are neurodegenerative disorders including
prion diseases; infectious diseases of the nervous system, in particular virus
diseases; and neuropathological characterisation of peculiar types of
neurological diseases.

Prof. Raj Kalaria (United Kingdom). Director of the Neurovascular


Research Group in the Institute of Neuroscience, Campus for Ageing
Vitality, at the old Newcastle General Hospital site and a Professor of
Pathology (Cerebrovascular Diseases) at Newcastle University. He is the
current chair of the Sub-committee on Training and Development of the
International Society of Neuropathology (ISN).
