MINISTRY FOR THE SICK AND
HOMEBOUND
We are grateful to those who give of
their time and care to bring Holy Com-
munion to our parishioners who can-
not make it to church due to sickness
or infirmity. If you know of anyone who would like to
receive communion in their home or while hospitalized
at West Lincoln Hospital, please contact the parish of-
fice.
CWL NEWS
We will be making a basket for Jillian’s Place. CWL
members are asked to bring donations of full size per-
sonal items (i.e. soap, deodorant, shampoo, tooth paste
Listerine, hair spray, mousse, medium tooth brushes,
laundry soap, fabric softeners, etc.) Non-scented is pre-
ferred. Items can be brought to the December 4th
Christmas Dinner Meeting.
CWL Christmas Dinner: Tuesday December 4th
after the 6:30 Mass. We welcome all ladies of the par-
ish to join the CWL members at a Christmas Dinner.
Tickets can be purchased for $25.00 through Colleen
Drake or the parish office by November 28th.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The Prayer Shawl Ministry contin-
ues to create handcrafted shawls
for parishioners, their families and
friends who are coping with ill-
ness, loneliness, pain or trouble.
During the past year, we have dis-
tributed many prayer shawls and lap blankets. The
shawls are knitted with compassion and prayerfulness.
They are available to anyone who needs one. Please
call the office to request a shawl or lap blanket or if you
would like to join this ministry. We meet monthly and
welcome new members.
MEMORIAL DONATIONS
As per family request, memorial donations on behalf of
Barbara Hack can be made to the building fund of St.
Helen’s Parish. We would like to thank and extend our
sincere condolences to the family and friends of
Barbara.

A compass needle
points north, even
though we cannot see
the magnetic forces
that make it so. A ball
thrown into the air
will always fall back
to the Earth, even
though we cannot see the gravitational forces that make
it so. In the Gospel, Jesus told Pilate “My kingdom does
not belong to this world,” implying Pilate simply could
not see it. Nor can we. But the reality is that we are like
compass needles always pointing toward God. Our
DNA calls us to seek him.
Our lives might be like the thrown ball, traveling up and
out, far from God. But in the end, we fall back into his
love. God’s kingdom is always there, ordained, inde-

CHRISTMAS ANGEL TREE
The Memorial Christmas Angel Tree
glows with lights in memory of de-
ceased loved ones and friends. To
honour the memory of a loved one
with an angel, complete a “Memorial
Christmas Angel Tree” envelope
available at the entrance of the church
and place it in the collection basket or
simply stop in at the office reception window during
office hours with your request. The tree will be up dur-
ing Advent.
FR. RICO PASSERO - PILGRIMAGE TO ITALY
FAITH & FLAVOURS OF ITALY
Fr. Rico Passero, Pastor of St. Joseph Church in Grims-
by is leading a pilgrimage to Italy - called “The Faith &
Flavours of Italy”, from April 29 to May 13, 2019. We
will be visiting Milan, Padua, Venice, Florence, Rome,
Siena, Assisi, Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Isle of Capri, Sor-
rento, and San Giovanni Rotondo. ALL are welcome!

PREPARING FOR ADVENT
SETTING THE STAGE FOR OUR ADVENT
JOURNEY, EVEN BEFORE IT BEGINS
Getting in Touch with Myself One of the best ways to
prepare for the very special season of Advent is to "get
in touch with ourselves." It may sound odd, but one
symptom of our contemporary lives is that we can often
be quite "out of touch" with what is going on in our very
own hearts. We are about to begin our Advent, right at
the time our Western culture begins Christmas prepara-
tions. It is a busy time, and our heads are filled with de-
tails to remember. And, it is a time of emotional com-
plexity that is part of this holiday season - with all of the
expectations and challenges of family and relation-
ships: who we want to be with and who we struggle to
be with. So, our hearts are a bit tender, if not completely
defended from experiencing anything deeply.
We are about to hear some very powerful and stirring
readings from Isaiah, the Prophet. We will re-enter the
ancient tradition of a people longing for the coming of a
Savior. We may remember the days of our childhood
when we longed for Christmas to come, because it was a
magical time of receiving gifts. As adults, we have to
ask ourselves: "What is it I long for now?" The answer
won't come easily. The more we walk around with that
question, and let it penetrate through the layers of dis-
traction and self-protection, the more powerfully we will

CCWN ANGEL WISHES
CCWN Angel Wishes was initiated by Rita
Morissette, a deceased member of our par-
ish in her desire to make a child's special
Christmas wish come true. We encourage you to fulfill
the special Angel Wish the child has made. This allows
the parents to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the
sparkle of Christmas Wonder will be possible for their
child. Suggested financial investment of $30-40 per
child. Please select a profile from the display in the
church, write your name and phone number on the
sheet. This lets us know who has a particular wish.
Please return your wrapped gift with profile card at-
tached to the church by December 7th.
