A 500 HOURS
1 Check Centrifugal Filter, clean & replace the filter if necessary
2 Check Control mechanism for free movement, clean and lubricate
3 Check the water quality of CoolIng water system (NALCO)
4 Check the cylinder firing pressure & record
5 Wash the injection pumps that run on heavy fuel with a cleaning device
6 Take oil samples for analysis (will be taken at RH 2617)
7 Clean the turbine by injecting water if the engine has been running on Gas/LFO
B 1000 HOURS
8 Remove the turbocharger air filter and clean the filter according to the
manufacturer's instructions.
9 Regrease the electrical fuel feed pump while it is running
10 Check the fuel oil filter
11 Clean the wire gauze and filter housing.
12 Clean the filter cartridges (mesh type) or replace them (paper cartridge type if the
pressure difference indicator shows too high a pressure drop
13 Check that the inlet and exhaust valves move freely in their guides.
14 Check the valve clearances
C 2000 HOURS
15 Check the function of the safety system & automatic stop devices
16 Check the water side of CAC, clean if necessary
17 Check the flexible hoses visually, replace if necessary
18 Fuel System
Open hot box covers & inspect the fuel system for possible leakages
Check systematically that all screws are in place. If the screws have
loosened, renew the Oring & Screws
Check that the fuel pipes are not loose from their clamping
Check the fuel feed dampers for leakage
Check & clean the fuel oil filter (Pilot Filter & Pump)
19 Perform the leak test with 3 bar compressed air or 3 bar nitrogen press.
20 Change the lube oil in the governor
21 Check the functioning & the tripping speed of the engine or plant automation &
relay module controlled overspeed trip device
22 Regrease the drive shaft of Turning Device

Work Performed :
1. Centrifugal filter
- Clean the centrifugal filter(s).
- Clean more often, if necessary
Note: Remember to open the valve before
the filter after cleaning
2. Control mechanism
- Check for free movement.
- Clean and lubricate the control mechanism
3. Cooling water system
- Check the water quality.
- Check the content of additives
4. Cylinder firing pressure
- Check the cylinder firing pressure.
- Record the firing pressures of all cylinders
5. Injection pump
- Wash the injection pumps that run on NA
heavy fuel with a cleaning device
Note: If the injection pumps are very dirty, mechanical cleaning
and opening if drain holes, for example, may be required
before using the cleaning device
6. Lubricating oil
To ensure safe engine operation, frequent oil
oil analysis at 500 - 1000 operating hours interval is
recommended also after the first year of operation.
7. Turbocharger
Clean the turbine by injecting water, if the
engine has been running on gas or light fuel oil (LFO/MDO)
8. Air filter
- Remove the turbocharger air filter and
clean the filter according to the
manufacturer's instructions.
- Clean the filter more often if necessary.
9. Electrical fuel feed pump
- Regrease the electrical fuel feed pump
while it is running
10. Fuel filter
- Check the fuel oil filter
- Clean the wire gauze and filter housing.
- Clean the filter cartridges (mesh type) or
replace them (paper cartridge type if the pressure difference
indicator shows too high a pressure drop
11. Valves and valve Mechanism
- Check that the inlet and exhaust valves
move freely in their guides
Note! This should preferably be done when the engine has
been out of operation
- Check the valve clearances

- Replace faulty sensors

- Check the water side of charge air
cooler(s) and clean if necessary.

- Check the flexible hoses visually.

15. Fuel system
- Open the hot box covers and inspect
the fuel system for possible leakages.
- Check systematically that all screws
are in place. If the screws have loosened,
renew the O-rings and screws.
- Check that the fuel pipes are not loose
from their clamping.
- 'Check the fuel feed dampers for leakage
three months after the installation of new
dampers and then every six months.

16. Gas system
- Perform the leak test with 3 bar
compressed air or 3 bar nitrogen pressure.
17. Governor
- Change the lubricating oil in the governor
18. Overspeed trip device ELECTRIC
- Check the functioning and the tripping
speed of the engine or plant automation
19. Turning device
- Regrease the drive shaft when the turning
device is connected (engine stopped).
