“Maintaining Sustainability in Jose Rizal University (JRU)”
(Going Green on Campus)
Introduction- Jaymart
Sustainability is a broad discipline, giving students and graduates insights into most
aspects of the human world from business to technology to environment and the social sciences.
The core skills with which a graduates leaves college or university are highly sought after,
especially in a modern world looking to drastically reduce carbon emissions and discover and
develop the technologies of the future. When we hear the word “sustainability” we tend to
think of renewable fuel sources, reducing carbon emissions, protecting environments and a way
of keeping the delicate ecosystems of our planet in balance. In short, sustainability looks to
protect our natural environment, human and ecological health, while driving innovation and
not compromising our way of life. (+ Powerpoint)
Statement of the Problem- Kurt
Pollution is one of the most prominent problems of society today. Most of the world’s
leaders are doing their part in developing ways to maintain sustainability in each of their
countries to solve this problem. As a university, Jose Rizal University (JRU) must also do its

Scope
Keeping our campus as clean and green is not simple as it sounds. There are co countless
potential benefits that we can get if we take part in building a more environmentally conscious
University. We’re now in a digital world people can make their life easy as with the help of
technological advancement, however people nowadays tend forget the value of green living
principles and that’s why we establish this business policy paper to get back the clean and green
environment inside the University. We encourage every student to be part of our main objective
should approach first the University head to ask for help in improving the campus. The policy
should be communicated to all employees and students. Implement projects and practices to
achieve the vision in making our campus eco-friendly. Explain why do the campus need a green
policy, what are the benefits of green policy and how will it be achieved.
Procedure
research and projects across the University to improve its sustainability. The options are almost
limitless. Topics and themes might focus on transport, biodiversity, energy, waste, food, behavior
change, wellbeing, the built environment, consumption patterns, culture...the list goes on. As
long as what you are doing aims to help improve the University's environmental sustainability,
Stop using disposable items- One of the biggest sources of waste are
disposable items such as plastic forks, knives, spoons, cups, water bottles, and everything else
which gets used once and then tossed in the trash. Usually things made of paper are
biodegradable, but most disposables composed of plastic aren’t. That means they can sit in
landfills for hundreds of years before breaking down. It can be tempting to save yourself the
chore of having to wash dishes. But by sticking to permanent reusable plates, cutlery and cups,
you’ll be living much more sustainably – and also save money in the long term.
You can also buy yourself a nice reusable water bottle, instead of buying water every time you
go out. Some universities have even banned the sale of bottled water on campus, to encourage
textbooks and folders full of handouts from professors. While there are still plenty of these items
floating around university campuses, there’s definitely a switch towards doing things more
digitally, and the devices we carry around with us daily help this greatly. Whenever possible,
take advantage of technology to reduce paper usage. Make notes on your computer, and only
print things out if you really need to. Just remember to back everything up regularly! To have an
even bigger impact on creating a sustainable campus, you can also encourage classmates and staff
campus is to recycle as much as you can. Whether it’s paper, plastic, electronics or clothing, many
college campuses have recycling facilities, so find out where these are located. Otherwise, there
may be other local recycling facilities you can use. Encourage your friends to do the same, and if
your university doesn’t have a well-developed recycling program, why not take the lead in getting
