In 1884 Nikola Tesla invented AC Current, which when paired with low voltage

distribution lines in towns and cities, allowed for the widespread use of
electricity and what we now know to be called the “Power Grid.” Since this
discovery, electricity has been used to power everything from the simple vacuum
cleaner (Invented by James Spangler in 1908) to Lasers, which are now being
used to supercool atoms to nearly zero kelvin and save lives in medical
procedures across the globe.
