Cost( $1000) 1210 1210 1210 (3x1)

The Cost Matrix cannot be simply mulitplied by the Target Group

because the cost matrix is a (3x1) matrix and Target group is (3x3).
The colums of cost matrix must match the rows of target matrix.
To fix this issue you have to change the Cost matrix and make it
a (1x3) matrix.Once you do that now you can mulitply these two

My excel equation for this problem is….

"=mmult(b5:d7,transpose(b2:d2))"
Style A Style B Style C
Wood 5 10 5
Nylon 20 9 10
Velvet 0 0 10
Springs 10 0 10 (4x4)

Cost($/unit)
Wood 15
Nylon 12
Velvet 14
Springs 30 (4x1)

wood nylon velvet springs

Cost($/unit) 615 258 635 #N/A (1x4)

You cannot simply multiply these two matix's together because the column
of the first matrix(4x4) does not match the row of the second matrix(4x1).
Inorder to fix this you need to rotate the cost($/unit) matrix so it becomes
a (1x4) matrix. After you do this, you should be able to calculate this problem

My excel equation for this problem is ….

"=mmult(transpose(b8:b11),b2:d5)"

After doing this assigment by using excel I now
understand how you can use matrices in real life. I
noticed that using a matrix can be really helpful when
you have two sets of data values and you want to see the
diffenerce or the sum of both data values, then you can
use a matrix in excel to help you to determine your
answer. I also learend how to "Alter" a matrix in excel so
you can multilpy two matrices together. For example in
question 3 you had to "alter" the data matrix so that the
column in the first matrix matched the row of the second
matrix. Overall, I liked this assignemnt because it actually
shows you how you can use a matrix to solve a huge
matrix like a 6x6 or a 6x4 on excel.
