I’m begin to write my essay for Course Planning and Assessment Early Education. This

essay about compare and contrast between planning guides which are long, termly, short

planning to children in school in early childhood education. I found after research about my

topic, that “all programs in early childhood education are not equally effective in promoting the

learning and development”. (Chuaungo, 2018). The general effective for this program

established to different aspects such as the environment, quality staff, consistent schedules, and

parent involvement. However, the purpose of work and focus on those factors. Because it has

process effective to different parts of society. Which are a child, school, family, and community?

I saw it require to follow the details points by providing deep and clear goals, clarify and view

curriculum in early childhood education that fit with the children age and their level, with

providing a good method and process that assist to develop children performance. By providing

three types of planning long, termly, and short plan and I will take about the difference,

similarities, advantage of planning guides to children in early years and link it to Monitory of

Education curriculum. (Chuaungo, 2018).

Planning guides’ for early childhood education have a variety characteristics of all types of

planning long, middle, short plan and it has a high-quality planning it is a way of making

children learning effective, exciting. By providing a curriculum and learning objective. I will

give a brief description of each type with planning start with a long-term plan it scheme of work

and provides an opportunity for learners in different aspects for whole years. All of it focuses to

cover all six developmental areas which are social, emotional, physical, language, community,

and cognitive development. However, the characteristics of long-term are provide a forward

vision of content and curriculum coverage. The second, provide a shared, agreed pathway the
2

years of the key stage. The tired provided a form of curriculum that draws on school and local

events and processes with include special day celebration. Also, it is adaptable and evolves

according to changing circumstances. Also, it is being evaluated through the feedback to see if it

connects the needs of the learner. (English, 2018).

The medium-term plan it is by choose certain time like weeks or half years, its focuses of

children’s needs and through this plans the school and teachers provide the extra resource for

children to learn better in their environment. The medium-term plan has important features

which are clearly focus on specific aspects of progression. The second point, a link to a long-

term plan by provided envisages for them. In addition, it identifies strategies and actions will

support children toward the learning outcomes and objectives. Furthermore, present the engaging

sequence of learning. Also, it makes a close reference to appropriate texts and

resources.(English, 2018).

Short term planning, it is mean planning for lessons. The features of doing the short-term

planning, it will need to have personalization. In addition, to go with more details about the plan

it will rich and engaging learning experience that builds upon what has happened previously in a

teaching sequence. For example, if the teacher used shoet planning it’s will set learning prossess

which mean she will engage student to lesson by different activities like ask them questions. The

second is to explore the purpose, skills, and aims. The tried is transform their knowledge into

deep learning and understanding through collaborating with each other, increasingly independent

work in class to build the confidence and self-stem to children. The fourth process which
3

provides a chance to review, evaluate and present what has been learned. (English, 2018). For

instance, teacher plan for activities that support the lesson aim and provide materials to allow

children to build their understanding based on the aims of activities.

The similarities of long-term plan, medium-term plan and short is all of them provide

envisages and farm for all level of progress for all pupils to access the stage. Also, both of them

have adaptable and evolves.

The differences for the medium term is to need of particular groups or individuals. While in

the long term the adaptable and evolves according to changing circumstance. Also, another

different evaluated on long-term through feedback to see if it matching with needs of learning.

While the evaluated in medium plan feedback through assessment, lesson observation, and pupil

interviews. While the short plan giants those process in the building, practicing and applying

skills.

The advantages of those planning long, medium and short-term are provides, the basis of

controlling provides pre-determined goals against which actual performance. Secondly, those

types are flexible to use and implement. Moreover, advantage is planning to give an organization

and clear instructors a sense of direction. Because without a clear planning and goals will

respond only for the daily accurate not to see what will happen in the future. In addition, the

advantage of planning show focuses more on the attention and result. Because it gives a teacher

to keep doing well and to be motives for children in early childhood to receive to learning

outcomes. The tired point, planning helps anticipate problems and cope with change. So the

teachers can help forecast future problems to avoid and reduce the mistakes that will happen in
4

the future. Also, planning provides the guidelines for decision making by management.

However, plans help both managers and employees keep their eyes on the big picture. (Harcourt,

2016).

According to the Ministry of Education in UAE, of Kindergarten 1 curriculums the staff of

school collaborate with teachers to add to students learning objective for long-term planning to

achieve and success it by the end of term or year which is the children will be able to understand

and follow one-step oral directions, share experiences and interests with peers and teacher in a

very simple form such as tell me, or show me. So, those learning outcomes help children to

develop their skills in social, emotional, and cognitive development. In addition, it helps children

to understand well and clearly listen to the steps from the teacher. (MOE Curriculum, 2010).

To recap up what I say in my essay, planning guides for early childhood education include

different type’s long, medium, and short plan. It has characteristics for each type of them, and it

has different categories of advantages for those types that assist the teachers to follow the

guidelines curriculum to children. In my opinion, the prepare planning guides for children in

early years is more beneficial and necessary for teacher and school to know what they will do in

the whole year by use the long, medium, and short-term to be clear with goals and learning

outcomes and achieve it by the end of the term, so it assists them to avoid a lot of mistakes that

may happen, change the wrong behavior that may be happening in the future. As well, it keep

doing well with children to keep learn better. In addition, in an

evaluation exercise an outsider like a pupil teacher can be quiet helpful in providing objective

insight into the behavior and learning problems.
