First order linear and non-linear differential equations: Introduction, formation and
solution of first order, first degree Differential Equations.
Higher order linear differential equations: Homogeneous linear equations of order n with
constants coefficients, solutions of higher order differential equations according to the roots of
auxiliary equation. Non-Homogeneous linear equations.Cauchy Euler equation.Method of
variations of parameters.Applications of higher order linear differential equations.
Introduction to Partial Differential Equations: Solution of Laplace equation, wave
equation and equation, by variable separable method heat (simple case).
Fourier Series: Fourier coefficients. Convergence of Fourier series.Fourier series of odd and
even functions.

Complex Variable Theory: Complex functions; Analytic functions; Cauchy-Riemann
equations (in Cartesian and polar coordinates). Complex integration; Line Integral; Green’s
Theorem; Cauchy Integral Theorem; Cauchy integral formula; singularities, poles, residues
and contour integration; Divergence theorem; Stock’s theorem and applications.

Eigen values and Eigen vectors: Power method.
Interpolation and extrapolation: Differences: Forward, backward, central, operators and
their relations. Newton’s forward interpolation formula.Newton’s backward interpolation
formula, Newton’s divided difference formula,.Lagrange’s interpolation formula.Stirling’s
formula. Curve fitting. Splines.
Numerical differentiation: Newton’s forward and backward differentiation formulae.
