LESSON PLAN IN MATH III

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
1. represents and compares sets of objects using less than and more than; and
2. show accuracy in comparing set of objects.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic : Less Than and More Than
Reference : Mathematics 3, pages 27-28, Danilo S.Padilla, Lolita Dacuba(authors)
Materials : book, visual aids, charts, laptop, pictures

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE


1. Preliminary Activities

2. Engagement
The teacher will call five students in front of the class. Split the students into two groups, namely
class A and class B. Class A should have 2 students and class B should have 3 students.
Guide Questions:
• How many students are in front?
• What did I do to the students?
• How many students are there in class A? in class B?
• Which class has less students? has more students?

3. Exploration
The teacher will divide the class into two(2) groups. The teacher will give each group a chart.
Content – 60%

Teamwork – 40%
Compare the 2 box. Encircle the box that has more object.
Total 100%

The Group or one of the members of the group will present their work.

Guide Questions:
• Which box has more objects? has less objects?
• How do you know that the box has more or less objects?
• Why do you say that the box that you encircle is more than the other box?
4. Explanation
In the first group, the number of gumamelas on the left box is more than the number of
gumamelas on the right box.
The number of roses on the left box is less than the number of roses on the right box.

In the second group, the number of hearts on left box is less than the number of hearts on the
right box.
The number of stars on the left box is more than the number of stars on the right box.
In comparing 2 sets of objects we use the less than and more than through the use of
symbol: > <

5. Extension
The teacher will show a sets of pictures with the same groups. Some students will identify if it is
less than or more than by showing the symbol that the teacher gave them. The teacher will call
some students to answer. The group who has the most scores /points will be the winner.

I- Compare the following sets using the less than and more than symbol.

II- Solve the problem.

Aya and Robi walk to the park. They saw a flower garden. Aya pick 12 yellow daisies
while Robi pick 15 pink tulips. How many did Aya pick? How about Robi? Who has less flowers
and who has more flowers. Compare the flowers that Aya pick to the flowers that Robi pick.
Show it through number sentence.
