ABSTRACT

The ONGC,HAZIRA plant is the biggest gas proccesing plant in india .it is a self

suffiecient utility plant.alll the energy sources are produced by itself.it contains a cogenration

unit which is producing electric and steam energy simultaneously. The generation unit is must

needed for any captive power plant .the cogeneration unit increases the efficiency of the plant.it

produces 60MW power out of which 40 MW is used rest is been wheeled to ONGC,

MEHSANA.

As the exploration of Oil &Natural Gas by the ONGC is increasing at a rapid pace, this plant

assumes much more importance then was ever thought of. The power demand at various units of

Hazira Plant is also increasing with the same speed. So; the need to produce more power is also

felt. This can then lead to installation of more gas turbine driven generators, or even new steam

turbines. There is also a fair chance of increasing the present electricity generation capacity of

COGEN Plant in order to sell the surplus power to other industries.
