Area and Its Boundary

Children, do you know what area and perimeter of an
object are? Did you ever try to do a simple bar graph?
You will be able to work on all these activities and
have a great time now!

What is Area?
The area is the amount of flat surface space that an
object occupies.

Area of any object can be figured out based on its shape.

Areas of a rectangle, square, circle, etc have different

and specific formulas to facilitate calculation.

What is the Perimeter?

The perimeter is nothing but the sum total of all the
boundaries of a given closed figure.

Similar to the area, the perimeter of any object or thing

can be found based on its shape.

The perimeter of a rectangle, square, or any closed figure

can be found using the simple associated formulas.
What is a bar graph?
A bar graph is a pictorial representation of data.

It has numerous rectangular bars situated at a uniform

distance.

The bars can be in horizontal or vertical position.

Trend calculations can be found using bar graphs.

Area of a Surface!
Find the area of different objects based on the given
measurements. Ensure to solve the problem with
complete steps.

1. Parmeet bought a rectangular shaped plate. He wanted

to fill the plate with red coloured paper. Find the area of
the plate if the length of the plate is 35 cm and breadth
is 15 cm?

B = 15cm

L = 35cm
2. Pinky and Esha wanted to decorate a square table.
They had to get required paint for colouring the surface.
They wanted to find the area of the square surface whose
side is 28 cm. Help them by calculating the area of the
square.

28cm

Perimeter of Objects!
Find the perimeter of the given objects. Ensure to solve
the question with complete steps.
1. Eshaan goes walking in a park every day. His mother
asked him how many kilometers did he walk that day.
Eshaan walked along only the fence of the park which was
12 km in length and 16 km in breadth. He had to measure
the boundary of a closed figure to calculate and tell his
mother. Please help him find the perimeter of the
rectangular park.

2. Shruti made a square shaped cake. She wanted to
decorate the borders of the cake with a ribbon. How
many inches long ribbon should she buy if the side of
the quake is 19 inches?

19 inches
Bar Graph!
Draw a bar graph using the given data.
1. The number of school uniforms stitched by a company
during the last five consecutive years is given below.
Year First Second Third Fourth Fifth
Number of Uniforms 850 700 600 800 950

These word problems would help your child to learn and practice
the concepts of area, perimeter, and bar graph easily.
