1 Purpose

Congratulations on choosing the SAGEM SA MorphoAccess Automatic Fingerprint Recognition Terminal.

This application will remove all components of the old version of your “MorphoAccess Software” and
upgrade it to the new version.

2 Connecting to MorphoAccessTM

2.1 MICRO-BOOT MODE

At boot, simultaneously press and then quickly release the MFK2 and FCT keys. When the MorphoAccess
beeps twice, a menu bar appears on the screen (hold mode).

Changing the MorphoAccessTM

The MorphoAccess IP address must be compatible with your network IP addresses. Contact your system
TM
administrator to obtain an IP address before connecting the MorphoAccess to the network. While in hold
mode, you can see the IP settings by pressing MFK1.

The only valid keys are function keys (blue) and ‘0 ‘to '9' to enter the IP address. For IP address changes to
TM
take effect, press MFK4 to reset the MorphoAccess . Press MFK2 and FCT again to return to hold mode.

Be careful, the only valid keys are shortcuts, so if you do some modifications, you’ll loose the old IP Address!

When you launch “EasyDownloader.exe” a window will be opened like this:

If you click the “Go” button the upgrade will start.

2.2 SDL MODE

If the MorphoAccess current application is higher than 3.0, you can upgrade your MorphoAccess without
being in hold mode. Just set the “/cfg/sdl|download|active” to 1, and check the Password box to fill in
accordance with “/cfg/sdl|download|password”.

So, when you launch “EasyDownloader.exe” a window will be opened like this:

3 Upgrading procedures

3.1 GRAPHIC MODE

At first, if you click the “Go” button the upgrade will start and this dialog box will appear to confirm your choice:

You will choose if you really want to upgrade your MorphoAccess . If you want to abort and quit the
application, you will click the “No” button. This action stops the upgrade and a window appears:

If you choose to upgrade your MorphoAccess you must click the “Yes” button. A dialog box appears and you
are invited to enter the path of your new files to download:

After this, click the “Open” button to start the upgrade. The old application will be erased, and the new

version of the MorphoAccess software will be downloaded:

When this operation is finished you can change configuration key, create key or remove key. This operation
could be done by introducing a File with “*.key” extension. This file is a part of the upgrade package, and this
operation is important when you use new software.

Click the “Open” button to start the modifications of the CFG Partition, or abort this stage by clicking the
“Cancel” button.

If the modifications were successful, this dialog box will appear:

Then, if the upgrade is successful, a message is returned:

If you don’t have this message, or if the connection failed while downloading the new version of the application,
just try again (see trouble shooting guide §5).

3.2 SCRIPT MODE

You can also upgrade your MorphoAccess thanks to the following script command:

C:\xxxxx\EasyDownloader.exe -ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -path C:\xxxxx\MA_4.42.dnl

-key C:\xxxxx\cfg.key -msg y -sdl 12345678

-ip after this flag pass the IP address of your MorphoAccess

-path after this flag pass the file path which contains the new version to download

-key after this flag pass the key path which reinitializes all the old/new key(s)

-msg after this flag valid a minimal graphical interface with "y" or "Y", or just use this software whithout
interface except error messages with "n" or "N"

-sdl after this flag pass the SDL password if you want to run in this mode, or pass "n" or "N" to run in
µBoot mode

Warning: Using all arguments is mandatory. The order is unimportant though.

5 Trouble shooting guide

1. To avoid troubles, you are strongly recommended to only use download files (*.dnl, *.key) which are
part of an upgrade package delivered by Sagem SA.

2. If your upgrade failed due to a network problem or to an electricity cut off, first try to do it again.

If the upgrade is still not successful, the action will depend on the state of your MorphoAccess :

a. your MorphoAccess has no more software:

The problem occurred after the erased of the old application.

TM
At start, the MorphoAccess will display the "STARTING…" screen and beep twice, and will start
again this way.
⇒ Perform the upgrade in Micro-Boot mode (see § 2.1)

b. your MorphoAccess has at least the system application (static kernel):

⇒ Perform the upgrade in Micro-Boot mode or SDL mode.

TM
c. your MorphoAccess is in an intermediate state:

The system application (static kernel) has not been completely downloaded:

At start, the MorphoAccess will display a permanent screen "STARTING…"
⇒ Perform the upgrade in Micro-Boot mode(see § 2.1). Passing in this mode must be done just at
the power on.

3. Biometric operation must be forbidden while updating your MorphoAccess in SDL mode.
