Aim: to revise Present Continuous for the Future

Level: A2 / Pre-intermediate and above

Lesson Plan:

1. Play the video without sound. Ask Ss to imagine who the people are and what the
conversation is about.

2. Play again, with the sound on, to verify Ss’ ideas.

3. Dictate / Put on the board the following questions:

1. When are they leaving?

2. Where are they going?
3. How far are they moving?

See if Ss remember the answers. If not, play the video again to check.

4. Play the video one more time and ask Ss to fill in the gaps:

Glenda: OK. We have news.

Jim: It’s big.
Burt: What is it?
Glenda: ................................................ in June.
Jim: ................ finally ....................... it.
Burt: ................................. in June? The baby’s due in July.
Jim: Right. To Antwerp. City of Light.
Burt: That’s not--. No, .............................
Jim: ........................... It’s going to be superb.
Burt: Don’t say that word.
Glenda: We thought you’d be proud of us. We’ve been talking about this for fifteen years and
now we can finally do it.
Burt: ................................. a month before the baby’s born? ................................. 3000 miles

Glenda: It’s more than 3000 miles, isn’t it, Jim?
Jim: I think so.
