Model shear fracturing and its impact on tensile fracturing with fluid flow and geomechanics. When shear failure occurs
on a grid block, the tensile threshold used in the Barton-Bandis fracture model can now be increased to facilitate
fracturing. Use this option to predict ‘frac-hits’, as grid blocks experience fracturing (due to tensile failure) much easier
than a grid block without shear-failure.
Integrating the geomechanical fracture model with CMG’s reservoir simulators enables engineers to design and optimize
well completions and field development plans using metrics such as oil recovery factor and Net Present Value (NPV), all
within one software suite.

STARS now includes additional flexibility in describing injection stream composition. Two new keywords have been
added to provide easy input of data. Specify the global mole fractions of the injected stream with *INCOMP *MIXTURE-Z.
Pressure and enthalpy along with the global mole fractions are used to obtain the temperature, phase splits and phase
compositions. This feature is particularly helpful when injecting steam along with a volatile multi-component solvent
mixture.
Furthermore, directly specify the enthalpy of the injected fluid at the specified pressure with the new *HINJW keyword.
The injection temperature, phase and mole fractions are determined by performing an isenthalpic flash at the specified
pressure. This feature can also be run in scan mode to verify or estimate mixture enthalpy.
