Activity This activity will engage students in their writing development. Students will create a
short comic in which they tell about their favorite vacation. The teacher will talk about
current writing objectives that have been discussed in the previous days. Teacher will
then show her comic example and explain what a comic is. The website the students will
be using is

can create a comic on this website with their choice of

Where they will be able to tell their story using a comic strip.
Directions 1. Click on “e” to open the internet
for Use 2. Type the url
http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/comic/index.html into
the search bar and hit enter.
3. Name your comic as your name with the subtitle On Vacation. Ex: Heather W.
(comic name) On Vacation (subtitle)
4. Select a 6 panel comic strip.
5. Begin your comic by selecting backgrounds with the up and down arrows on the
right.
6. Next add to your comic by dragging items (people, speech balloons, animals…etc.)
to your comic panel.
7. Enter text inside your speech balloons and add main captions of the comic panel on
the caption line below the panels.
8. Once finished with a comic panel click the right arrow at the top of the panel to go
to the next panel. You may go back and forth through panels to look at what you
have created already.
9. When done with all 6 panels, you should click finish and print.
10. Remember, if you are stuck to raise your hand and I will be by to help!!
