I. Introduction

The Purpose of the study was to analyse degree of bonding and the impact of molding
water content in the Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) of the mixtures among different
cement dosages with water cement ratio through time. The sample have cement dosage is 10% and
13% of Portland Cement Type I by weight of dry soil with a water content computed from water
cement ratio varying between 0.6 and 2.0 and tested for different curing periods (3, 7, 14 and 28
days). The research sample preparation were molded inside cylindrical PVC molds. The procedure
adopted for the Unconfined Compressive Strength tests is based in ASTM D2166-00.

TITLE
The Journal is Entitled “Influence of Water Content in the UCS of Soil-Cement
Mixtures for Different Cement Dosages”, our assumption when we first read the title it is
experimental research and base from what we had read the title of the journal is appropriate to
the content of it.

ABSTRACT
“Soil-Cement mixtures are artificially structured materials with stable fabric due to the
presence of artificial bonds. This type of materials is used in several geotechnical applications such
as in pavement base layers in transportation infrastructures. In this paper artificially cemented silty
sands are studied adopting dosages of 10% and 13% of Portland cement (by weight of dry soil).
In order to analyze the impact of the molding water content in the Unconfined Compressive
Strength (UCS) of the mixtures through time, the mixtures were prepared for water to cement
ratios varying between 0.6 and 2.0 andtested for different curing periods (3, 7, 14 and 28 days).
UCS test results are interpreted considering the presence of bonds connecting the grains. The
definition of a bonding parameter is adopted aiming to quantify the improvements achieved for
the different cases investigated and considering curing periods.”
The Structure of Abstract in the journal is perfectly stated and it summarized the content
of the research. The researcher did a good job making the abstract short and consist of just one
paragraph and not more than 300 words to attract the reader’s attention and easy to read the
content of the Journal. The proportion of the sample used are stated at the abstract and it is good
for the other researcher to easily compare to their study.
The Author must put the major finding achieved to the result of the analysis and must put
the interpretation of the conclusion so that the content of the article is describe briefly is easy to
understand. For the method used the experiment it must be in the abstract and the standard test
used must also be seen in it.

INTRODUCTION
“Soil-Cement mixtures are often used as pavement base layers in transportation
infrastructures such as roads and airports. The strength and the lifespan of these materials and the
possibility of including part of the in situ natural soil in the mixture are known advantages of
adopting this soil improvement solution.
The mechanical properties of the mixture are expected to be influenced by the original
properties of the soil and cement used and strongly depend on the moisture conditions and the
cement dosage adopted. Cement to soil ratio (in terms of weight), molding water content, voids
ratio or porosity, degree of compaction and compaction method (Davies and Fendukly, 1994;
Kenai et al., 2006; Viana da Fonseca et al., 2009; Consoli et al., 2011; Consoli et al., 2012;
among others), are parameters”

The Journal’s introduction had stated the problem and it did a good job setting an
example where the problem occur. The author describe the study and what could be the possible
effect of the study and also the author identify the mechanical properties of the experiment
conduct. The research study is fit perfectly as a solution to address the problem because the
research conducted different test to examine many sample to determine which proportion does
affect the situation. The problem
