After two years, the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) delegates of

Wesleyan University-Philippines (WU-P) bagged the Overall Award 2nd runner-up and
Overall Award 1st runner-up in Non-Academic Events in the recently held 22nd Regional
Midyear Convention at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City last September 24-26.

With the theme, “A Euphoric Phantasm: Casting Spells of Success, Unfolding


Untold Prowess, and Celebrating Ecstatic Chants of Greatness,” hosted by the National
Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) – Region III, the said
event showcased the intelligence, talent and strategies of the delegates of the 16 schools
who participated.

The College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) sent 43 delegates with their
Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) adviser, Mr. Jelwin DL. Bautista, in the
said convention to represent the school.

"Because we can’t afford to give everyone a chance to participate, we made sure


that each delegate who will compete can bring glory to the university, and we never
failed,” Bautista said.

The delegates who earned gold awards were John Michael Torreda, Auditing Cup
and All Board Subjects Cup; Nikki Malicat, Slam Poetry; Melqui Carlos, Princess Joy
Cabrera and Cristalyn Madrid, Debate Cup; Christopher Bryan Ramos, Carl Jayson
Carlos and Nikki Malicat, Lipsync Battle; Dan Adrian Patrick Mariano, Sherouk Joan
Domingo and Hanna Luisa Esquivel, Quizzers Got Talent; Eric John Estioco and
Wyndelle Espina, Mask Designing Competition; and the eight delegates to represent Air
Nomads Team were Jake Marius Christian Macapagal, John Danielle Regendin, Allan
James Dionaldo, Christopher Bryan Ramos, Nikki Malicat, Catherine Noveno, Hanna
Luisa Esquivel and Chikilou De Guzman on Guild War: Traditional Games.

The winners of the silver medals were Christine Eunice Diaz and Sherouk Joan
Domingo, Canvas Painting; Jenine Maricar Barnachea, Nikki Malicat, Catherine Noveno,
Kristan Licaycay, Christine Eunice Diaz, Leinell Sta. Maria, Don Joshua Caysip, Carl
Jayson Carlos, Christopher Bryan Ramos and John Emmanuel Talplacido, Enchanted:
Acapella Magical Ensemble and the 20 delegates for Once Upon A Time: The Mythology
of Elements also won 1st runner up.

Meanwhile, the bronze medalists were Jazen Valdez and Guyzler Alvarez, Supra
Tough Model and Eric Owen Talplacido, Spoken Word Poetry. John Emmanuel
Talplacido and Chyrisse Buendia were also crowned as Mr. and Ms. Ambassador of
Goodwill 2nd runner-up and 1st runner-up respectively.

“Pumunta kami sa RMYC na ang goal talaga e manalo, pero higit pa do’n ang
natanggap namin. Proud na proud ako sa mga co-delegates ko, kita na naging
magandang result lahat ng efforts nila. At syempre walang mapaglagyan yung
pasasalamat sa advisers at kay Dean na hanggang dun sa mismong event suportado sila
hanggang sa maka-uwi,” said Nikki Malicat, the Mayor of the Junior Philippine Institute of
Accountants (JPIA).
