Write a brief summary (8 complete sentences) using MLA in-text citations.

Andrew Reiner want to bring attention to the fact that “Many young men, just like this student,
compose artful, convincing masks, but deep down they aren’t who they pretend to be” because
they are always being told that they should not express their feelings and that they have to be
manlier when they show a moment of weakness ( Reiner 592). This does not just happen to
young men because young women go through similar things expect that guys are expected to be
more power than girls. Society has a lot to do with this expectation on man because of the past
few centuries. When boys are born they are more sensitive than girls and boys are able to express
them and make more facial expressions than girls. He talks about the shootings that happen in
20212 and how “ These gunmen were believed to share hypermasculine traits: feeling of
profound isolation and a compulsion for viral notoriety”(Reiner 593). It’s crazy that people are
still closed minded beside everything that has happen since 1999. People react differently when
they see a woman cry compared to seeing a guy crying. A professor asked him “ Why do you
think a few young women stopped to see if your female friend was O.K.”, I asked him “but no
one did the same thing for you [….] it’s like we’re scared” he said ,“ that the natural order of
things will completely collapse”(pp. 594-595) all that has to do with how society and parents
have made this picture of how man should acted in public and around people.

What is the author’s motivation for writing this piece? (8 complete sentences)
Andrew Reiner want to bring attention to the fact the dads are being tough with their boys. That
kids should be able to sensitive whether they are boys or girls. Everything is connected to how
people are being treating or how they are able to express themselves. Andrew Reiner uses pathos,
ethos and logos to make his argument strong and well supported. He believes that they should be
more support for young man who might be struggling with things in life or with their sexuality.
Boys are more attach to their feelings when they were babies up to age of nine. Wants parents to
realized that even though they want the best for their kid them push their believes at a young age
can make do more damage than good to their child.

Although you may agree with the thesis, write a counterargument. (8-10 complete
sentences)
By focusing on young men and their struggles, Andrew Reiner overlooks the deeper problem of
young women who might be going through those same struggles. Young men and young women
might look different on the outside but in the inside, they are similar. Men might feel
emotionally deeper than women, but man are seemed weak when they express their feelings. In
today’s society should be open to more equally for men and women either it’s just being accepted
by who you are or what they believe in. It’s not just about young men and the injustice that they
have to grow up with.
