India, UK signed pact to collaborate on 5 year cancer research
• On November 15, 2018, India and UK signed the MOU on India-UK Cancer Research Initiative in New
Delhi.The India-UK Cancer Research Initiative was launched at the Inaugural
Researchers’ Summit, which is being held in New Delhi from November 14th to November 16th, 2018.

• On 14th November 2018, the Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik launched ‘NIPUN’, an e-
learning portal to impart in-service training to its personnel.NIPUN aims to provide online training and
information through specialized courses designed by experts.
4-day 3rd India International Cherry Blossom Festival celebrated in Meghalaya
• On November 14, 2018, the 4-day 3rd India International Cherry Blossom Festival was celebrated at
Polo 5th Ground, Shillong, Meghalaya.The 2018 edition was inaugurated by Chief Minister Conrad K
Sangma in the presence of Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu.

• Two important projects were inaugurated on November 15 under Swadesh Darshan Scheme of Ministry

• On November 16, 2018, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Smt Harsimrat Kaur
Badal inaugurated the second Mega Food Park in Maharashtra. It is
located in Wahegaon and Dhangaon village in Paithan Taluka of Aurangabad district and has been
promoted by M/s Paithan Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd.
Andhra govt revealed its State Emblem inspired by Amaravati art
• On November 15, 2018, after 5 years of bifurcation in 2014, Andhra Pradesh government unveiled
its new emblem for official use. It consists of “Dhamma Chakka” – “the Wheel of Law” embellished with
a ring of Triratnas alternating with pinnate leaves and precious stones.
Sri Ramayana Express flagged off from Safdarjung railway station in Delhi
• On November 16, 2018, Shri Ramayana Express was flagged off from Safdarjung Railway Station in New
Delhi. The pilgrimage circuit it will travel on, named- Shri Ramayana Yatra-Sri Lanka, consists of two
travel components –one each in India and Sri Lanka.
15-day Aadi Mahotsav festival commenced in Delhi
• On November 16 2018, 15-day Aadi Mahotsav festival commenced in the national capital Delhi. The
theme of the festival is ‘Celebration of the spirit of tribal culture, craft, cuisine and commerce’.
26th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organization (COCSSO) held in Himachal Pradesh
• On November 15, 2018,26th Conference of Central and States Statistical Organizations was held at
Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh,the conference took place for 2 days on 15th and 16th
November. The theme of this year’s Conference is “Quality Assurance in Official Statistics”.
Nongkrem dance festival celebrated in Meghalaya
• On 11th and 12th November 2018, Nongkrem dance festival, was celebrated by the people of the Khasi
Hills, in Meghalaya. This festival is celebrated annually. People pray for good harvest, peace, and

Kerala Government launches ‘Gau Samridhi Plus scheme’
• On 16th November 2018, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched the ‘Gau Samridhi Plus
scheme’ or ‘Cow Samridhi Plus Scheme’ to offer insurance coverage to dairy farmers in Kerala.
Tribunal set up to decide on ban on two Tripura militant groups
• On November 16, 2018, the Home Ministry set up a tribunal to decide on banning 2 militant groups
from Tripura.The tribunal is headed by Delhi High Court Judge Justice Suresh Kait.
WCD Ministry approves setting up over 1023 fast-track courts to dispose off rape, POCSO cases
• Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry has approved setting up of 1023 Fast Track Special
Courts to dispose off pending cases of rape and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences)
Act throughout India. Law and Justice Ministry had sent a proposal regarding this to WCD Ministry.
2-day 9th Session of the India – Kyrgyz IGC concluded in New Delhi
• On November 16, 2018, the 2-day 9th Session of the India-Kyrgyz Inter-Governmental Commission on
Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (IK-IGC) concluded in New Delhi. It started
on November 15, 2018. The IK-IGC was co-chaired by Union Minister Suresh Prabhu,and Mr.
Kosmosbek Cholponbaev, Minister of Health, Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
DIPP Hosts Global Digital Content Market 2018
• On 14th and 15th November 2018,The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry
of Commerce and Industry hosts, 2 days conference of Global Digital Content Market 2018 (GDCM

100-Year-old WWII veteran Retired Lt. Col. William Pollard awarded French Legion of Honor
• On 19th November 2018, French Government has awarded French Legion of Honor to 100-year-old
Retired Col. William Pollard during a ceremony at the Kentucky Capitol. William Pollard fought in World
War II and rescued 14 soldiers from a concrete caisson that was hit by enemy fire.
3rd Sayaji Ratna Award received by Film superstar Amitabh Bachchan
• On November 20, 2018, film star Amitabh Bachchan was awarded the third Sayaji Ratna Award in
Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara for his social contribution to pay off the loans of 1,398 farmers from Uttar
Pradesh and 350 from Maharashtra.
Designers of ‘Urban wind turbine’ O-Wind Turbine won 2018 International James Dyson award 2018
• On November 21, 2018, the prestigious International James Dyson award 2018 was won by Nicolas
Orellana of Chile and Yaseen Noorani from Kenya for their innovative design ‘Urban wind turbine’

WCCB won Asia Environment Enforcement Awards for combating trans-boundary environmental crime
• On 21st November, 2018, the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) was selected for the Asia
Environmental Enforcement Award 2018, for its outstanding contributions in combating the trans-
boundary environmental crime by United Nations Environment program.The award ceremony was held
at Bangkok, Thailand.
Professor S.P. Ganguly conferred the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, highest recognition by Mexico
• On November 19, 2018, for the first time, the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest civilian
honour given to a foreigner by Mexico, was awarded to Professor Shyama Prasad Ganguly in the India
International Center (IIC).He was the first Indian Academician to receive such honour.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education won silver in the International Green Apple Award
• On 22nd November, 2018, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education won silver in the International
Green Apple Award for environmental best practice 2018 at a ceremony held at the Houses of
Parliament in London. The award was received by Derrick I. Joshua, Assistant Director, Environment
Sustainability, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

Cyclonic storm ‘GAJA’ over coastal Tamil Nadu
• On 16th November 2018, cyclonic storm ‘Gaja’ crossed near Tamil Nadu causing severe damage to
certain coastal regions. Six districts of Tamilnadu including Nagapattinam, Pudukottai,
Ramanathapuram and Tiruvarur met big disaster due to this cyclone. Vedaranyam (Nagapattinam
district), Mannargudi (Tiruvarur) are disaster struck regions and expects for government rehabilitation
schemes.
Four new horned frogs discovered by Delhi University team in Northern Himalayas
• Four new horned frogs’ species have been discovered by a team of biologists from Delhi University,
University College Dublin (Ireland) and Natural History Museum (UK) in the Himalayan regions of
Northeast India.
