Room 111 News!
Jolly Phonics:
This week we learned the sound R!
The children listened to a story and
sang the R sound song. The
children also played “what’s in the
R box?” (motion: shake your head
from side
To side).
Second Step:
This week we
talked about
caring and sharing. We
talked about what we can say
to a friend if he/she is feeling
sad, shy, or embarrassed.
When we are kind to our
friends and share with them,
they feel happy!
Bridges:
This week we started our new unit:
snow. We continued doing our AABB
pattern, and we started learning how a
snowflake is made (a small dust particle
gets covered in water, freezes, and as it
gets heavier it falls to the ground). We
also talked about how a snowflake starts
as the shape of a hexagon!
Speech Update:
In speech this week the children read the book
“Good Morning Little Polar Bear” While reading the
story, the children practiced labeling and identifying
objects in pictures, increasing utterance length,
answering and asking “wh” questions, sequencing, and
making predictions.
The children also played Don’t Break the Ice.
They practiced sound production, turn-taking,
answering “wh” questions, increasing utterance length,
making requests and comments to peers, increasing
grammatically correct sentences, and following
directions.
Other Info:
*The children have been going in and out
of our classroom library to look at family
pictures. If you have not already, please
send in a family picture to put up on our
wall!
*Pajama Day is coming! Please come to
school dressed in your pajamas. You can
also bring one stuffed animal of your
choice to share with the class.
