Course Objective
To explore the concepts and techniques relating to SHRM and enable the students to learn its critical
issues. The course essentially aims at understanding concepts of Human Resource Management
with strategic perspective, Evolution of SHRM. Viewing human resources with investment
perspective., Linking HR strategies with overall Business Strategy, Developing Strategic Leadership
for a Global competitive advantage. Group dynamics and enhancing organizational effectiveness and
minimizing skill gap through competency mapping and developmental initiatives.

At the end of the course students will be able to:


• Understand the difference between Traditional & Strategic HRM
• Learn various HR related initiatives with Global and Strategic perspective.
• View Human Resources as an investment rather than cost to the organization.
• Develop a Learning Organization for sustainable Global Competitive Advantage
• Learn importance of working in groups and leading effective teams
• Learn effective developmental initiatives for organizational effectiveness.

Learning Pedagogy
A series of lectures as per above session plan will impart knowledge and conceptual
understanding of the subject and will be complemented by interactive tutor-led and student-led
syndicate discussions.. The unit has thus been designed to use a variety of teaching pedagogies
including Case Studies, Group Discussions and Home assignments / Projects that will help
students to learn and apply various concepts relating to Strategic Human Resource
Management.
