Privacy

Privacy is what we use to hide our secrets and personal things from others to know, so

that way they don’t hold them against us. Life as we knew it has not always been like that, for

some reason others find it okay to invade others. Taking it to the internet, since it is so new to us

people's lives are more at risk. More accounts on social media are getting hacked into, for the use

of it has been overly populated. Privacy is one of the many things that criminals have invaded to

steal peoples identity, money, or accounts. This might have changed from the past, and the way

people got their privacy invaded. The way it looks like is there are more easier ways on the

internet to spy on you. This kind of issue has its reasons for it and needs to be stopped in order

for us to live our lives on the internet safe.

First off technology has upgraded drastically, so have people they adjusted to it so much.

Nowadays people talk about the technology being the future, and that is true to this day. Many

jobs or places rely on the internet to keep track of their products sold. The way that people

looking up stuff on the internet makes it easier to find your things on there. People now are

monitoring it faster by social media because many peoples lives is out in the open. So many

scam accounts are communicating on facebook to trick people into getting to their banks

accounts and rob them. In the past many people didn’t have a problem with the internet and

getting hacked, for one they had people stalking them to break into their personal belongs. On

the other hand a big issue is that others would tell people they will double their money, but
Gonzales 2

won’t talk or avoid seeing them the next day. Because they lied and don’t have that kind money,

people would get robbed like this all the time. Though it seems that that with technology and not

technology, in a way is similar to each other a lot!

Due to everyone being on media, they expose where they are at by allowing the location

from their phones. Since more apps are having more features on it, so we can find where your

friends at on snapchat. This makes your privacy more open than it would be in the past, yet we

want privacy more than anything. We have to realize all the precautions, that make things easier

for our privacy to invaded. In this era just by one click you could see what someone is eating,

doing, and where abouts from their posts on media. People are posting their personal more online

for their “friends” to see, but that makes it easier for people to hack or get into their heads.

Furthermore in the past the federal had little technology that would be good enough to track

people that were breaking the law. To explain more in 2012 there was a misunderstanding in a

case between the supreme court and jones.“Police investigators” they kept an eye on Jones for at

least a month with no warrants, for being a “suspected drug trafficker”. Hiding the truth from

everyone of what happened in the case, the cops had disobeyed his rights to privacy. When

privacy is invaded by the government it is automatically okay, but it still undetermined by the

court (Geer, par.6). For the sake of our privacy we can’t even trust our own privacy in the hands

of the government, that made a law to “protect” our privacy.

Whereas civil rights have always been a big issue in our society, and even people's

privacy are getting invaded by what they are identified as. It is unfair for so many reason, we are

in a the 21st century and people are since afraid of change. People only choose from a variety of

looks or symbols. At this moment in time it seems like people are getting invasion by what they

signify as on social media. There is tons of junk mail online that people don’t even know is
Gonzales 3

getting sent to, just by that one can be easily tracked to the person. Although the internet has lost

of secret establishments, that others surf on to not get caught by the FBI. This is called the dark

web, it’s spookier than it sounds, many go on there to find different ranges of stuff. From under

age trafficing to much more distributing content, but this makes it easy for hackers to find other

people's information. When it comes to your career or education your life on media matters than

you think, and managers look briefly for what you post based on your certain gender, race or

orientation (Alvaro, par. 2). As for the past many people didn’t think of privacy as a thing, when

it came to someone being different. Since people were overly abusive verbally, meaning they

never respected at their own home. Back then you could be followed by someone, and they can

just be planning to break into your home. The place where you are supposed to feel safe at, but

your private things are in there.

Similarity to all the scenarios they all somehow are connected to each other, they invade

for the reason everyone wants. The cause of this is apparent to all the reasons I’ve listed money,

to see if your breaking the law and prejudice. People feel the need to bring into the sense of want

and not what someone’s situation is, this is truly unfair to our society. Watching everyone's use

of data to see what we are using the internet for. Lost of accounts are made online, that is hard to

tell if the account is active or not. Many of accounts are easier to get hacked into, since it is not

being used as much as it should. People that post their personal information online just make it

easier to get hacked into, for one everyone can see it. They should make sure their things are

private, and are only shown to people that they know. All of these examples are a huge issues

since people aren’t worried about the risk, especially for children that are now evolving into it.

Therefore the federal has ways of tracking people on your gps and websites that are

illegal, it is used frequently used to protect our safety of what they think is bad. It’s usually more
Gonzales 4

of finding and collecting data that we use on the internet, so we need to watch the amount we use

that way the federal doesn’t get the impression we are breaking the law. Usually what gets

investigated is more like child pornography, coding/hacking, and etc. the things that would

prevent us from getting our privacy invaded. Thus being that the feds invades it to make sure

there is no identity thief happening online, and to make sure no traffickers are selling unwanted

drugs. Likewise a lot of privacy problems that happen in the past few years, are unfortunately not

on the internet. These events are happening by criminals that just steal others identity, to pretend

they are them to buy things they can’t. Because they are either a felon or are not able to buy it

with the credit they have. The cops crack down on these people by none other than invading our

own privacy, yet it’s unfair to our rights to privacy. It does help our privacy get protected better,

past or present the cops helps us. Even if we think it’s going against our beliefs, we are not

getting our information stolen. People provoke our privacy, for the sake they don’t have anything

themselves. Instead of seeking help from others, they steal from others.

In conclusion the internet has grown more bigger than ever, it also have a huge impact on

our future. We can simply avoid getting invaded, by checking websites to see if it’s protected.

Right next to the url is a picture that shows a lock, and urls with dot org, dot net or ed.gov are

protected websites you can trust. We can’t always expect for people to change, that’s why it’s

best for you to look out for yourself and others with your information online. As far from hackers

trying to steal your money, but if know what they say to you that sounds fake. It’s pretty easy to

tell if they are fake or hackers, but it’s still important to prevent you from losing information. The

rights to privacy should be respected by others and state, regardless of who you are. The best

way to stand from it is to know the precautions and rules that come with the rights.
