I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to learn;
a.) identify the different ingredients used in making cookies
b.) demonstrate how to follow procedures in preparing cookies
c.) apply safety precautions when preparing cookies

III. PROCEDURE

what is a cookie? - Ma’am it is a small sweet cake, typically
round, flat, and crisp.

e. Motivation
- Now class let’s have a game.
“Deal or No Deal”
The game needs two teams. For the game
mechanics; each group will pick their “safe-
briefcase” after they choose their “safe-
briefcase” the game will start. Each group will
pick briefcase alternately until the all briefcase
are selected, if the briefcase has an ingredient
the team will earn point. The winning team
will receive a prize.

2. Presentation
a. INTRODUCTION
- Class, have you tried to bake? -Yes ma’am!
b. Lesson Proper
- Alright, I will demonstrate how to
prepare drop cookie. Watch carefully and you
will do it afterwards with your group.

- But before I begin let us know first the


things we have to consider before preparing
cookies.
- Who can give one? - Ma’am proper cooking outfit
- Yes, very good! Another?
- Cleanliness in working area.
-Correct!
- Now class do you have idea about PPE?
- Ma’am it is personal protective equipment

- Who can give me an example of PPE?


-Apron ma’am
- Correct! Another? -Oven mitts or pot holder ma’am
-Very good! Other example of ppe is hair
net, toque, mask, plastic gloves. Any way why - To protect ourselves from harm like burns
do we need PPE? that’s why we use oven mitts. We use plastic
gloves and mask to avoid food contamination.
-Excellent!

-Now let’s proceed in preparing cookies,


watch carefully and listen class. First you have
to prepare all the ingredients that we will use,
which is also known as mise en place.

These are the ingredients…

1/2 cup butter


1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar, light or dark, packed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups All-Purpose flour
2 tablespoons milk,
2 cups chocolate chip

PROCEDURE
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease
two baking sheets, or line with parchment.

2. Beat together the butter, sugars, vanilla, salt,


baking powder, and baking soda till well
combined.

3. Add the egg, beating till smooth. Scrape the


sides of the bowl, and beat again till smooth.

4. Add the flour, mixing it in completely.

5. If you're making cookies using chocolate


chips beat in the milk, then the add-ins.

6. Drop the cookies by the traditional


"tablespoonful" (actually about 4 measuring
teaspoons) onto the prepared baking sheets,
spacing them about 2" apart. A tablespoon
cookie scoop works well here.

7. Bake the cookies for 10 to 14 minutes (or up


to 16 minutes; ovens may vary). The cookies
should be a light golden brown, and a bit
darker around the edges. For softer cookies,
bake the shorter amount of time; for crunchy
cookies, bake longer.

8. Remove the cookies from the oven, and cool


right on the baking sheets.

c. Application
- Now, it’s your turn to do the following
correct procedure. This time you will be
grouped by counting 1-4. Go to your respective
group. Here is the rubric for evaluating your
cookies.

will go here in front and get the ingredients. (The representative of the group will go in
front)
- Ready? Your group may start now; I will
give you 15-20mins to prepare your
ingredients and batter.

(After 20mins.)
-After laying your cookie batter in cookie
sheet pan, let’s put it on the oven and timer it
for 10-14mins. Meanwhile, while waiting for
you cookies to be finish, wash your used tools
and clean your working area.

d. Generalization
- What are the ingredients used in baking a
drop cookie? - Ma’am the ingredients used are, granulated
sugar, brown sugar, butter, salt. vanilla extract,
baking powder, baking soda, egg, APF, milk,
and chocolate chip.

- Very good! What is the first step in the -Preheating the oven for about 375 degree
procedure? Fahrenheit

- Why is it important to have a complete


-Ma’am because it protects its user against any
PPE? physical harms or hazards that the workplace
environment may present.
