AFFIDAVIT OF XIAOZONG LIU
I, Xiaozong Liu, of Shenzhen, China, MAKE OATH AND SAY THA’
1. Ihave personal knowledge of the facts to which I depose, except where they are stated to
be on information and belief, and where so stated, I believe them to be true,
2. Lam 43 years old. I was born EEE, in Chendu, China. I am a Chinese citizen
and do not hold citizenship in any other country. I have a Hong Kong and a Chinese
passport. Ido not have any other passports that have not expired. I ordinarily live in
Shenzhen, China,
3. Lam currently self-employed. I work as a venture capitalist.4, Tammartied. My spouse’s name is Wanzhou Meng. We were married in 2007.

5. Mywife and I share aN daughter, I. We ordinarily reside in I.
~ China, My wife also has three older sons from previous marriages. They range in age

wife and I share responsibilities in relation to our child, IN I am the primary
caregiver on a day-to-day basis.
6. My wife and I own two properties in Vancouver. The first property was purchased in
2009. It is located at 4005 28" Street, in Vancouver. The second property was
purchased in 2016. It is located at 1603 Matthews Street in Vancouver. When our
family comes to Vancouver, we live in the hon i We are currently
renovating the house located on Matthews Street. Once the renovations on that property
are complete, our family intended to move into it and reside there. Given the current,
circumstances, we would seek leave of the honorable to do so, should my wife be granted
bail.
7. While I am a Chinese citizen and normally reside in China, my family has extensive ties
to Canada, and Vancouver in particular. I first visited Vancouver in approximately
2003. Since then I have retuned regularly as a visitor. Between my
daughter[{ attended kindergarten in Vancouver, while one of my wife’s sons
attended school here. Most years, even after the children stopped attending school in
Vancouver, my wife, my parents and my younger children spent many weeks here during
the summer months. Since 2010, my parents have typically stayed in our home in
‘Vancouver for many months in the summer. My wife’s mother and her older son have
also visited us here, Ihave friends in Vancouver and consider myself to be a part of the
community.
8, [flew to Vancouver from my home in China on December 2, 2018. I arrived in
‘Vancouver at approximately 9:00 a.m. on December 3, 2018. I intend to remain in
‘Vancouver until the bail hearing process is completed. If my wife is released on bailSWORN BEFORE ME at the
conditions, I intend to remain in Vancouver with her for as long as I am able to do so.
Depending on the length of proceedings, | intend to have our daughter, IEEE. brought
to Vancouver to attend school here and to be with both myself and my wife. My parents
‘would also be able to intermittently enter Canada for the purposes of helping around the
household and caring for
9, Ido not have a criminal record in China or anywhere. I have also never otherwise had
any problems with law enforcement in China or abroad.
10. I will provide all the support possible to my wife in Canada that is necessary in order to
ensure that she complies with any and all conditions ordered by this court if she is,
released on bail conditions.
11. This affidavit is sworn in support of my wife’s Notice of Application dated December 3,
2018, to be released from custody.
