Objectives:
Language Objective: The student will be able to write sentences using specific vocabulary that relates to
animal habitats.

Content Objective: The students will be able to identify the different types of habitats animals live.

Directions: Test-taker’s will read and have read to them:

On the next page, you will see pictures that show animals in their habitats . Each picture is
numbered. For each numbered picture, find the numbered question that goes with that picture and write a
sentence in the line below it that answers the question. There is no exact correct answer to the questions.
You will use the pictures to help you state the name of the habitat and a basic description of it. Each
question will be worth 2 points. The entire test is worth 16 points.

Scoring:  The  scoring  scale  for  this  controlled  writing  will  be  on  a  0-­2  point  scale.  Each  sentence  
will  be  scored  separately  and  combined  into  one  whole  score  out  of  16  points.  The  scoring  scale  
is  
2-­  The  student  correctly  identified  the  name  of  the  habitat  and  provided  an  accurate  basic  
description.  
1-­  The  student  correctly  identified  the  name  of  the  habitat,  however,  their  basic  description  is  
inaccurate  
0-­  The  student  could  not  correctly  identify  and/or  did  not  include  a  basic  description.
