Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) technology is getting traction among
researchers due to its good mechanical and durability properties, nevertheless its high economical cost impedes its dissemination in developing countries. UHPC obtain its good properties from an improved packing density, quartz aggregates and the addition of highly pozzolanic material in the form of silica fume. In recent research studies, it has been found that calcined clays pozzolanicity can be as high or higher than silica fume with the advantages that calcined clays are being produced are much lower temperatures. This work describes the effects of the replacement of both cement a silica fume with a mix of calcined clay and limestone powder on both fresh and hardened properties, additionally the replacement of quartz by limestone aggregates is explored. From the results, it can be seen than really high compressive strength concrete and with very good durability can be done without the addition of silica fume when a good mix design if calcined clays are involved.
