The Relief Poem (Ya Man Yara ..): Abul-Atahiya (213-130 AH)
It is said that Allah Ta'ala will not deny any request presented together with this Munajaat/poem
ِِِ ِِ
O Who sees what is in ‫ويسمع‬
ِ ‫يا من يرىٰ ما ف اَّلضمي‬ ِْ
consciences and listens ْ ِْ ِ ِ
‫ِْأنت ْاَّلـمعَُُّدِلِلكُِّلمايتَّوقع‬
You are Who I prepare ِِِ ِِ
for in ‫ِياْمنيرجىى للشداَّئد كُِّلهَا‬
ِْ ِْ ِْ ِ
everything that can be ٰٰ ِِ

expected ِ
‫يا من إليه اَّلـْمشتَّكُِّى واَّلـمفزَع‬
ِ ِ ِ ِ ِْ ِْ
O Who is hoped for all
ِِ ِ ِِِ ِِ ِِ
hardships and calamities. O ‫ف قول كُِّن‬ ‫يا من خزَاَّئن ْرزَقه‬
Who is there to complain to, ِْ ِْ ِْ ِِ ِ ِْ
ِ ِْ ِِ
and flee towards during panic ِْ ‫اَّلـِْخي ْعندك أجع‬ ‫ِْاَّمننِْ ِفَإن‬
O Whose coffers of ِ
ِِ ِِ ِِ ٰٰ ِِ
sustenance are in His
ٌ‫وسيللة‬ ‫سوىْفقْري إليك‬ ‫ماِل‬
saying: “be” . Please bestow, ِْ ِ ِْ ِْ ِ ِْ ِ
ِِ ِِ ِِ ِِِ ِِِْ
for Your goodness is more
comprehensive ‫ِ إليك ِْ فَقْري أدفَع‬ ِْ
‫وبالفتَّقْار‬
ِْْ ِِ ِْ ِِ ِ
The only means I have is my ِِ ِِ ِِ ٰٰ ‫ماِل‬
poverty and need for You. ٌ‫حيللة‬ ‫سوىقْرعي لبابك‬

and by my destitution for ِْ ِْ ِْ ِ ِْ ِ

ِ ٍِ ِ ِِ ِِ
Your I try to evade my
‫فَأي بابِْ أقرع‬ ِ ‫ِ فَلئن رددت‬
poverty ِ ِّ ْ ِْ
ِِِ ِِ ِِ ِ
ِِ
The only scheme for me is
ْ ِْ ‫ِِّ ومن اَّلذي‬
‫أدعو وأهتَّف باسمه‬ ِ
my knocking at Your door, ِْ ٍِِ ِ
but if I am turned back, then ِ ِ ِ ِِ
‫ْإن كُِّان ْفَضلكِ عن فَقْي يمنع‬
?which door would I knock ِ ِْ ِْ

And whom will I call and

whose name will I cry out if a
[faqir] (as me) would have
been denied Your graces. Your
generosity and munificence are
venerated
 ِِ ِِِ
beyond that You despair ًِ
‫عاصيا‬ ِ‫ِ ِ حاشاِلودك ْألنِِتَّقْنط‬
ِ ِْ ِ
a sinner, for Your graces ِ ِِ ِْ ِ ِ ِ ِْ
are more generous and ِ‫ِ أجزَل وِاَّلـمواَّهبِْأوسع‬ ‫ِْاَّلْفضل‬
ِ ِ
liberal, and Your gifts are
vast ِ ِ ِ ِِّ ِِ
ً ِِ
With humility I have ‫واَّفَيت بابك عالـام‬ ‫بالذل ْقد‬
ِ ِ ِْ ِ
come to Your door,
ِ ِِ ِِ ِّ
knowing That ‫ِأنالتَّذلل ْعند بابك ْينفع‬
submissiveness at your ِ ِ ِ

door is useful and ِ ِِ ِْ

‫ل‬
‫معَُُّتَّمدي عليكُِّتَّوكُِّاًل‬ ‫وجعَُُّلت‬
brings benefit ْ ِْ ِ ِْ ِ
ِّ ِ ِِ ِْ ِِّ ِْ ِ
And I made my
‫وبسطت كُِّفي سائاًل أتَّضع‬
dependence on You turn
into entrusting You, and I ِْ ِ ِِ
‫وببحق من أحببتَّه وبعَُُّثَتَّه‬
spread my palms begging ِْْ ِ ِ
ِ
in prayer and supplication ِِ ِ
‫دعوةَ من به يتَّشفع‬ ‫وأجبت‬
By the sake of the one ِ ِ ِْ ِْ ِْ
You loved and sent as ًِ ِْ ٍِ ِِّ ِِ ِْ ِِ
Prophet and answered the ‫ِضيقْمرجا‬ ‫إجعَُُّل لنا من كُِّل‬
ِ ِْ ِْ ِْ
prayer of whoever uses ِِ ِْ ِ ِِ ِْ
ِِ
him as intercessor ‫يا من إليه اَّلـرجع‬ ‫ف ِبنا‬
ْ ‫واَّلط‬
ِ ِْ ِْ ِْ ِ
Please grant us an exit ِ
‫ِ ِ ِّ ثَم اَّلصالةٌ عللنبيوءَاَّله‬
from every narrowness ‫ع‬ ِِِ ِِْ
ِ
(trouble) and have mercy ‫شافَعلِومشف‬ ‫ِخي اَّلـخالئق‬
ِ ِْ
on us, O Who is our
‫صلىاهلل عليه واَّله سلم‬
retreat
