Class 5 Date October 14, 2018, 12:40 p.m.

Overall aim and context of the lesson

In this lesson the students were able to:

 Investigate different mixtures and solutions.

 Compare how different substances dissolve, react, and float or sink in water.
 Recognize the importance of steps in a scientific investigation.
 Recognize that some changes of state, dissolving and mixing processes can be reversed
through filtering, sieving, and evaporation.

Select (S):
This lesson in the fifth session of this course. It is about how different materials will dissolve, react,
and float or sink in the liquid substance which is the water, and how to separate them by using the
filter tool.

Describe (D):

This lesson for year five students to learn what will happens to different materials when they are
mixed with water and how we can use the filter tool to separate them again. It was in grade five
class in the school. I was trying to teach them how can filter the materials (sugar, coffee, sand) with
the water. In this lesson, the students think and figure out of some of materials or objects that can
separate the different mixtures.
Analyze (A):
I think the students responded with the way that they did because they understood all the
instructions of the activities and the goals of the lesson. I have engaged them and their
understanding through asked them to remember what they touch in the last lesson by give them
some clouds questions such as sugar with water, sand with water, and flour with water, then they
solved these questions to see if they understand the lesson or not.

Appraise (A):

There was experiment in this lesson which the students will investigate how to separate the
materials through using the filter tool and they will learn some words such as filtration, soluble,
insoluble, and reversible.
I believe that this lesson meets my teaching goals, because the students understood well the
meaning of the lesson vocabulary and they have a lot of information and experiences about it
and I saw that during their writing and discussions when they solved and completed the
worksheet which about the filtration at the end of the class.

Transform (T):

In the future I will enhance student learning of this lesson through using other ideas to refresh their
thinking more. For example, I will use my observation for the lesson with involvement and
understanding of students. The implications for my professional practice are it can improve my
skills more and achieve my teaching goals during the semester.
