Kristine Cao

I am delighted to be able to write this letter of recommendation for Kristine Cao. I had the
pleasure of teaching Kristine when she was a sophomore in the college level AP Art History
class and was very happy to recommend her for acceptance into the National Honors Society, as
well as a summer college program.

Although Kristine has had a Mathematics and Science focus in high school she made the
decision to challenge herself in AP Art History. This class spans thousands of years of Art
History through the study of two hundred and fifty global artworks, analyzing both the aesthetics
and the contextual information to better understand the link between culture, history and the
human need to create art. This class is typically taken by upperclassmen but Kristine wanted to
challenge herself and expand her horizons. She was hard working and could write a great Art
History essay! Students are also required to prepare and present information on a certain number
of artworks during the year and Kristine always met deadlines and her presentations were
informative and thoroughly researched.

I have not taught Kristine since her sophomore year but she has been by to speak to me many
times. I always tell students at the beginning of the year that Art History will change the way
they look at the world and I believe this is absolutely true for Kristine. She is truly a well

rounded student and remains passionately interested in the art world. Maybe she will find time to
study some more in college? I certainly hope so!

She is definitely an independent thinker with great determination and tenacity who also is willing
to accept any constructive criticism and instruction concerning her work.

Kristine is a very promising candidate and I feel that she can be a great addition to your program.
