Dear Parents and Students,

This year in our classroom we are planning to learn as much as possible and have fun as
often as we can. Entering high school comes with great responsibility and ninth-graders are
expected to continue to mature and follow the expectations set for them by the school and their
teachers, which includes me. I am sending this letter home with an attachment for both you and
your child to sign and return to me confirming that we are all in understanding of the
expectations and consequences for misbehavior in place.
Expectations for Apple High School:
All rules and procedures outlined in the student handbook are expected to be followed. Failure to
meet these expectations will result in the consequences as defined. I will be following the
recommended warning and referral procedures as stated in the handbook.
For a copy of the Student Handbook for Apple High School, please visit the school webstite, go
to the “student resources” page, and you will find the handbook. If you are unable to access the
handbook in this way, please feel free to contact me or the front office to ensure you receive a
hard copy.
Expectations for Miss. Garcia’s classroom:
Respect. As a class we will respect ourselves, others, and any belongings we come into contact
with. If you are respecting those around you appropriately there should be no issues among peers
or any staff we interact with.
Honesty. As your teacher, I aim to be as open and honest with you as I can and I expect the
same treatment from my students and their parents. If there are issues going on outside of class I
won’t know or be able to help unless you tell me.
Teachability. Having a learning attitude is key to succeeding in our classroom. I hope to learn
from my students while getting to teach them. It is important that students enter the classroom
ready to learn by being prepared, engaging in conversation, asking questions, and completing
their work.

If students cannot follow school and classroom expectations, they will receive two warning
before further action is taken. Consequences, with communication to parents, will be based on
the type and severity of infraction. If issues become recurring, students will be referred to the
Assistant Principal’s office and a conference will be set up.

Parents and students please sign, cut, and return the below portion of the form, indicating your
understanding and agreement to follow expectations, to class by Friday August 20, 2018. If you
have any questions you can contact me via email at mgarcia.teach@school.net or phone at
123.987.4567.

I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the outlined classroom expectations discussed
in this letter.
