Overall aim and context of the lesson

In this lesson the students were able to:

 Demonstrate the meaning of recycling.

 Identify which materials will float or sink, attracted to magnetic, and easy to rip.
 Explain how sorting and separating the different materials (aluminum drinks cans, tin cans,
cardboards, plastics) in the waste.

Select (S):

This lesson in the ninth session in the course. It’s explaining the meaning of recycling and how to
sorting and separate different materials in the waste.

Describe (D):

This lesson for year five students to learn how to separate and sorting different materials in the
waste. It was in grade five class in the school. I was trying to teach them how we can separate
different materials in the waste, such as aluminum drink cans, tin cans, plastic, cardboards. In this
lesson, the students think and figure out of some of materials or objects that we can using them
to recycle and how we can separate them in the appropriate waste.
Analyze (A):

I think the students responded with the way that they did because they understood all the
instructions of the activities and the goals of the lesson. I have tested their understanding through
present some pictures and ask them to think about three ways of how we can separate them in
the waste, such as if is it float or sink, attracted to magnetic, and easy to rip. Also, I engaged the
students by present first the symbol of the recycling and ask them what the meaning of it and
where we can find this symbol. Then, I present for them waste with different materials and asked
them to figure out what the materials that in this waste and how we can to sorting and separate
them in the appropriate waste.
Appraise (A):

There was experiment in this lesson which the students used different materials and must separate
them in appropriate waste through using the three ways of separating. Also, they solved the
worksheet that has the names of different materials and which of them will (float or sink, attracted
to magnetic, and easy to rip). I believe that this lesson meets my teaching goals, because the
students understood the meaning of the recycling well and they have a lot of information and
experiences about it and I saw that during their writing and drawing a short story about the
recycling in the end of the class.
Transform (T):

In the future I will enhance student learning of this lesson through using other ideas to refresh their
thinking more. For example, in the begin of the class I will present some different countries and
ask them to think if these countries use the recycling or not and how. The implications for my
professional practice are it can improve my skills more and achieve my teaching goals during the
semester.
