The document provides a lesson observation summary for a student teacher. It summarizes the lesson, noting that planning was clear and organized, differentiation was used well to support student progression, questioning was used to further student understanding, all students received additional support as needed, and behavior management strategies were effectively implemented. Areas for development included targeting questioning more to individual student needs, explaining instructions to small groups separately to avoid multiple explanations, using additional school resources, and having students self-assess and provide written reflections. Professionalism / Planning for learning / (Includes knowledge & understanding of content) Implementing and Managing Learning / (Includes behavior management, language and delivery) Assessment / Reflection on Practice / Overview of the lesson: Planning was incredibly clear and organised resulting in the class being given a clear explanation of tasks. Clear use of differentiation in both main and extension task to accelerate children’s progression within the lesson. Children were frequently asked to give reasoning and ask questions to further understanding- great use of talk partners. All pupils were reviewed and give additional support Great allocation of TA’s time and support to all ability children Children were provided with support sheets from previous learning to support them with challenging tasks. Teacher re-modeled activity in order to clarify the aims and objectives. Good use of behavior strategies- 321 stop, hands free, clapping a rhythm. Well done for sharing children’s work, promoting high standards of learning within the classroom. Areas for development:
• Continue to focus on challenge through questioning. Questioning needs
to be targeted to the needs of each learner. • Set groups off at different times and try to explain instructions to each group in turn. This will avoid children hearing three separate sets of activities (differentiation). • Can you use school resources/science resources to develop your lesson further? • Be confident to direct support staff to help specific children based on assessment within the lesson. • Can children self-assess to give you an idea of their level of understanding? • Can children write a written reflection of their learning- relating to the learner profile (knowledgeable/caring/inquirer/balanced)?
Focus for next lesson:
Continue with your positive energy and exceptional manner with the children- they love having you as their teacher!
Focus on highlighted points above for next lesson.
