Reading/Language Arts
In Language Arts our learning targets this week have included:
*Spelling focus: vowel long “a” (a_e)
*consonant blends: sh, th,
*Sound made by “al/all” like in ball, talk; c/s/ like cent; g/j/ like giraffe
*Sight word focus
*blending sounds, rhyming words
*recognizing Proper Nounsin sentences! Proper Nouns are special names of
people, places, things, and animals. (Ms. DeVine, Holland, Arby’s, etc.)
*cause & effect – We are starting to talk about the higher level thinking
ideas of reading. When one thing happens it often causes something else to
happen!
*Story Structure – including setting, characters, beginning, middle, end,
problem, solution. We made a story map this week.
What else: This week in writing we have worked on a short composition.
Our new theme communities has us thinking and talking about the way
people work together. So our compositions have been about something we
do together at school. Our plan tells our topic and 3 details about that idea!
We are also focusing on writing about 1 thing, not making lists!!!
Math TRADITION DAY
This week we continued to work
on Unit 3 objectives! Our main Wednesday is Tradition Day at WZ!
focus has been: We would like everyone to bring
*teen numbers: 1 ten plus some something that symbolizes a tradition
ones that your family has! It does not
*representing teen numbers with need to be a Christmas tradition! We
