Classifications of Literature

The two major classifications of literature

are fiction and nonfiction.

Nonfiction stories are true. They tell a story of a

person’s life, narrate a series of events, describe a
real scene, or present information.

Fiction stories are not true. In fiction stories at least

one story element comes from the author’s imagination.
