Detailed Schedule

Arrival of the Dignitaries: The Chancellor, the Chief Guest and External Members of
Board of Management.

1. Reception by the Vice Chancellor

Robing of the Chancellor, Justice S.N. Bhargava, Chief Guest, Shri Manu
Agarwal, Founder and CEO, Naaptol.com, External members of Board of
Management and the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ashok Gupta, the Rector & Registrar,
Dr. Raakhi Gupta, etc.

Commencement of Convocation Proceedings

2. Formation of the Academic Procession: Order of Procession will be as follows:

4. On arrival of the procession at the convocation hall, the compere will announce:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the academic procession will now enter the convocation
hall. You may please stand up and remain standing till all the members of the
procession have taken their seats. May I request you to switch off your mobile
phones for the duration of the convocation to avoid disturbance to the proceedings.”

5. The Chancellor, the Chief Guest, the Vice Chancellor, the Rector & Registrar, the
Advisor, Deans of Faculties and members of the Board of Management will proceed to
their seats on the dais.
6. The members of the Academic Council will take their seats in the block marked
for them.

7. The convocation ceremony will start with Saraswati Vandana, followed by


lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais. This will be followed by floral
welcome of the dignitaries by the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar.

8. The Rector & Registrar will make a request to the Chancellor to accord
permission for Convocation to be declared open in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, the Seventh Convocation of IIS (deemed to be University) has


been called to award and confer Degrees and Diplomas upon the candidates who
have been certified worthy of the same by the Academic Council and the Board of
Management of this University. If permitted, the Convocation be declared open.”

9. In response to the request made by the Registrar, the Chancellor will accord
permission for declaring the Convocation open in the following words:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of IIS (deemed to be


University), I grant permission to declare the Convocation open.”

10. On permission being granted by the Chancellor, the Rector & Registrar will
request the Vice Chancellor to declare the Convocation open in the following words:

“Mr. Vice Chancellor, may I now request you to declare the Seventh Convocation of
the University Open”.

11. In response to the request made by the Registrar, the Vice Chancellor will declare
the convocation open by saying:

“With the permission of the Chancellor, I hereby declare the Seventh Convocation
of this University open”.

12. After the Convocation is declared open, the Rector & Registrar will announce:

“Mr. Vice Chancellor, I request you to welcome the chief guest, dignitaries, guests
and the graduands present in the Convocation Hall and to present a report on the
major activities of the University during the last one year.”

13. The Vice Chancellor will then deliver the welcome address and also apprise the
audience with the highlights of IIS (deemed to be University).

14. After the welcome address by the Vice Chancellor, the Deans of Faculties will be
requested by the Registrar, one by one, to present the Ph.D. graduands; the Merit Position
holders of different programmes at the Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels for award
of degrees in person and then Position Holders of different Career Oriented and Skill
Development Programmes for the award of Advanced Diplomas in person. Thereafter, all
the graduands in the faculty will be presented for conferment of their Degrees and
Diplomas.

AWARD AND CONFERMENT OF DEGREES AND DIPLOMAS ON ALL THE


GRADUANDS IN THE FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

15. The Rector & Registrar will first invite the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social
Sciences in the following words:

“In my capacity as the Rector & Registrar of the University, I request the Dean,
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, to present the graduands in the Faculty of Arts
and Social Sciences for conferment of their Degrees and Diplomas by the
Chancellor. I request the Dean to present the recipients of the Research Degrees of
Ph.D. first and then the Merit Position holders of different programmes at
Postgraduate level and thereafter the Merit Position holders of the Professional,
Honours and Pass Course programmes at the Undergraduate level for award of
Degrees in person. The Merit Position holders of different Advanced Diploma
Courses of Career Oriented and Skill Development programmes may then be
presented for the award of Diplomas in person. After that, all the graduands in the
faculty may be presented for conferment of their Degrees by the Chancellor.”

16. The Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, will seek permission of the
Chancellor for the same in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed
by the Academic Council and the Board of Management of IIS (deemed to be
University), the candidates whose names are herewith submitted for award of
Research Degrees of Ph.D.; the Merit Position holders of different programmes at
the Postgraduate level; Professional, Honours and Pass Course Programmes at the
Undergraduate level; and different Advanced Diploma courses of Career Oriented
and Skill Development programmes in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of
this University, for the award of Degrees and Diplomas, in person and then all the
graduands in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for conferment of their
degrees/ diplomas. ”

17. The Chancellor will accord permission in the following words:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of IIS (deemed to be


University), I hereby grant permission for presenting the recipients of the degrees/
diplomas in person and thereafter all the graduands in the Faculty of Arts and
Social Sciences may be presented for conferment of their degrees and diplomas, for
whom approval has been accorded by the Academic Council and the Board of
Management.”

18. The Dean will announce:

“For receiving the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Arts in person, I call upon
Meenakshi Rathore, Shivangi Padmaker and Vanshika Bhatia

For receiving the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Social Sciences in person, I call
upon Deepak Sharma and Sapna Newar

Now I invite the merit position holders of Professional programmes at the


postgraduate level in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for receiving their
degrees in person:

19. As soon as their names are called out by the Dean, the recipients of
degrees/diplomas will go in person, one by one, on the dais, receive degrees/diplomas
from the Chancellor/ Chief Guest/ Vice-Chancellor, bow slightly to show respect and
then come back to take their seats.

20. The Dean will then request all the degree/diploma recipients in the faculty of Arts
and Social Sciences to rise, for conferment of their degrees/diplomas, in the following
words:

“All graduands of Arts and Social Sciences please rise.”

21. All the graduands of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will stand up with
degrees/diplomas in their hands and will remain standing till the Chancellor has conferred
degrees/diplomas on them.

22. The Dean will present all the graduands of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
for conferment of their degrees/diplomas in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed
by the Academic Council and the Board of Management 403 candidates of the
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for conferment of their degrees and diplomas.

23. The Chancellor will confer degrees/diplomas on them in the following words:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of IIS (deemed to be


University), I admit you to the different degrees and diplomas, as mentioned by the
Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of this University, on being declared
qualified for the same by the University. I direct you to prove worthy of the same
throughout your life by acts and behavior appropriate for your degree/diploma. In
token thereof, you have been presented with these degrees/diplomas and I authorize
you to wear the robes as the insignia of your degree/diploma.”

24. After conferment of degrees/diplomas by the Chancellor, the graduates will


express their gratitude to the Chancellor by bowing slightly and then take their seats, on
being directed by the Dean.

Dean: “All the recipients of degrees and diplomas may now take their seats.”
AWARD AND CONFERMENT OF DEGREES AND DIPLOMAS ON ALL THE
GRADUANDS IN THE FACULTY OF COMMERCE & MANAGEMENT

25. The Rector & Registrar will then invite the Dean, Faculty of Commerce &
Management in the following words:

“In my capacity as the Rector & Registrar of the University, I request the Dean,
Faculty of Commerce & Management, to present the graduands in the Faculty of
Commerce & Management for conferment of their degrees and diplomas by the
Chancellor. I request the Dean to present the recipients of the Research Degrees of
Ph.D. first and then the Merit Position holders of different programmes at
Postgraduate level and thereafter the Merit Position holders of the Professional,
Honours and Pass Course programmes at the Undergraduate level in the Faculty of
Commerce and Management for award of degrees in person. The Merit Position
holders of different Advanced Diploma Courses of Career Oriented and Skill
Development programmes may then be presented for the award of diplomas in
person. After that, all the graduands in the faculty may be presented for conferment
of their degrees and diplomas by the Chancellor.”

26. The Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, will seek permission of the
Chancellor for the same in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed
by the Academic Council and the Board of Management of IIS (deemed to be
University), the candidates whose names are herewith submitted for award of
Research Degree of Ph.D.; Merit Position holders of different programmes at the
Postgraduate level; Professional, Honours and Pass Course programmes at the
Undergraduate level; and different Advanced Diploma courses of Career Oriented

29. The Dean will then request all the degree/diploma recipients in the faculty of
Commerce and Management to rise, for conferment of their degrees/ diplomas, in the
following words:

“All graduands of Commerce & Management please rise.”

30. All the graduands of the Faculty of Commerce and Management will stand up
with degrees/diplomas in their hands and will remain standing till the Chancellor has
conferred degrees/diplomas on them.

31. The Dean, will present all the graduands of the Faculty of Commerce and
Management for conferment of their degrees/diplomas in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed
by the Academic Council and the Board of Management 831 candidates of the
Faculty of Commerce and Management for conferment of their degrees and
diplomas.

32. The Chancellor will confer degrees/diplomas on them in the following words:
“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of IIS (deemed to be
University), I admit you to the different degrees and diplomas, as mentioned by the
Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management of this University, on being declared
qualified for the same by the University. I direct you to prove worthy of the same
throughout your life by acts and behavior appropriate for your degree/diploma. In
token thereof, you have been presented with these degrees/diplomas and I authorize
you to wear the robes as the insignia of your degree/diploma.”

33. After conferment of degrees/diplomas by the Chancellor, the graduates will

“In my capacity as the Rector & Registrar of the University, I request the Dean,
Faculty of Science, to present the graduands in the Faculty of Science for
conferment of their degrees by the Chancellor. I request the Dean to present the
recipients of the Research Degrees of Ph.D. first and then the Merit Position holders
of different programmes at postgraduate level and thereafter Merit Position holders
of the Professional, Honours and Pass course programmes at undergraduate level in
the Faculty of Science for award of degrees in person. The Merit Position holders of
different Advanced Diploma Courses of Career Oriented and Skill Development
programmes may then be presented for the award of diplomas in person. After that,
all the graduands in the faculty may be presented for conferment of their degrees by
the Chancellor.”

35. The Dean, Faculty of Science, will seek permission of the Chancellor for the same
in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed
by the Academic Council and the Board of Management of IIS (deemed to be
University), the candidates whose names are herewith submitted for award of

37. As soon as their names are called out by the Dean, the recipients of Degrees will
go in person, one by one, on the dais, receive Degrees from the Chancellor/Chief
Guest/Vice-Chancellor, bow slightly to show respect and then come back to take their
seats.

38. The Dean will then request all the degree recipients in the faculty of Science to
rise, for conferment of their degrees in the following words:

“All graduands of Faculty of Science, please rise.”

39. All the graduands of the Faculty of Science will stand up with their degrees in
their hands and will remain standing till the Chancellor has conferred degrees on them.

40. The Dean will present all the graduands of the Faculty of Science for conferment
of their degrees in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed
by the Academic Council and the Board of Management 543 candidates of the
Faculty of Science for conferment of their degrees and diplomas

41. The Chancellor will confer degrees/diplomas on them in the following words:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of IIS (deemed to be


University), I admit you to the different degrees and diplomas as mentioned by the
Dean, Faculty of Science of this University, on being declared qualified for the same
by the University. I direct you to prove worthy of the same throughout your life by
acts and behaviour appropriate for your degree/diploma. In token thereof, you have
been presented with these degrees/diplomas and I authorize you to wear the robes as
the insignia of your degree/diploma.”
42. After conferment of degrees/diplomas by the Chancellor, graduates will express
their gratitude to the Chancellor by bowing slightly and then take their seats on being
directed by the Dean.

Dean: “All the recipients of degrees may now take their seats.”

GOLD MEDALS AND ENDOWMENT AWARDS

43. The Rector & Registrar will then request the dignitaries on the dais to award the
University Gold Medals along with Merit Certificates to the toppers of different
programmes and Endowment Awards to the eligible graduates selected as per the
conditions and criteria of the concerned awards.

44. The Rector & Registrar will first invite those graduates, one by one, who will be
receiving the University Gold Medals and then the graduates receiving the Endowment
Awards.

45. The respective graduates will reach the dais when called by the Registrar, receive
the Gold Medals/Endowment Awards, bow slightly to show respect and then come back
to take their seats.

46. Before presenting the candidates, the Rector & Registrar will seek the permission
of the Chancellor by saying:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed
by the Academic Council and the Board of Management, the graduates whose
names are herewith submitted for the award of University Gold Medals and Merit
Certificates for academic excellence in different programmes of various faculties of

49. The Rector & Registrar will then request the Chancellor to confer the
degrees/diplomas on the graduands who have qualified for the award of the same
but have not been able to attend the Convocation.

50. For this purpose the Rector & Registrar will request the Chancellor in the
following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, I now request that in accordance with the grace passed by
the Academic Council and the Board of Management, the candidates whose
names are herewith submitted in the record of degrees and diplomas, but
who could not be present in the Convocation, be admitted to their respective
degrees/diplomas in Absentia.”

The Chancellor will confer degrees/diplomas on all such candidates in absentia by


saying:
“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of the IIS (deemed
to be University), I admit all those graduands of this University, who could
not attend the Convocation to receive in person their degrees/ diplomas. I
authorize them also to wear the robes ordained as the insignia of their
degree/diploma and direct them in absentia to prove worthy of the same
throughout their lives by the acts and behaviour appropriate for their
degrees and diplomas.”

ADMINISTRATION OF OATH

51. The Rector & Registrar will then request the Vice-Chancellor to initiate the
graduates and administer Oath to them in the following words:

“May I request Hon'ble Vice Chancellor to initiate and bless the graduates
who have been conferred with the degrees and diplomas and the recipients of
University Gold Medals, Merit Certificates and Endowment Awards and
administer the Oath to them.”

The Rector & Registrar will say: “All the graduates and awardees please rise.”

All the graduates and awardees will then rise and keep standing at their places to
receive the initiation, blessings and till the Oath is administered by the Vice
Chancellor.

CONVOCATION ADDRESS BY THE CHIEF GUEST

52. The Vice-Chancellor will invite the Chief Guest to deliver the Convocation
Address.

53. After the Convocation Address by the Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor will present
memento to the Chief Guest.

54. Thereafter, the Rector & Registrar will propose a Vote of Thanks.

DISSOLUTION OF CONVOCATION PROCEEDINGS

55. The Rector & Registrar will then seek permission of the Chancellor for
Convocation to be dissolved. The Rector & Registrar will say:

“Mr. Chancellor, kindly permit for dissolution of the Convocation.”

The Chancellor will say:


“I do permit.”
The Rector & Registrar will then request the Vice Chancellor to dissolve the
Convocation by saying:

“Mr. Vice-Chancellor, kindly dissolve the Seventh Convocation of the


University”.

The Vice Chancellor will then dissolve the Convocation in the following words:

“With the permission of the Chancellor, I hereby dissolve the Seventh


convocation of the University.”

NATIONAL ANTHEM

56. The compere will announce:

“I request all to rise for the National Anthem.”

Everyone will rise for the National Anthem.

RETURN OF THE PROCESSION

57. The compere will announce:

“The Academic procession will now leave the Convocation hall. You are all
requested to keep standing till all the members of the procession have left the
hall.”

58. The procession will regroup in the order specified below:
