Summary
PepsiCo Inc. (PEP) is a leading food and beverage company that manufactures and distributes
its products in more than 200 countries. Food products that PepsiCo manufactures include
chips, flavored snacks, cereals, rice, pasta, and dairy-based products. The company’s beverage
product portfolio includes carbonated soft drinks, juices, ready-to-drink tea and coffee, sports
drinks, and bottled water. Headquartered in Purchase, New York, the company employs around
274,000 people worldwide.

Background
Pepsi was first introduced as "Brad's Drink" in New Bern, North Carolina, United States, in 1893
by Caleb Bradham, who made it at his drugstore where the drink was sold. It was renamed
Pepsi-Cola in 1898 after the root of the word "dyspepsia" and the kola nuts used in the recipe.
The original recipe also included sugar and vanilla.Bradham sought to create a fountain drink
that was appealing and would aid in digestion and boost energy.
The original stylized Pepsi-Cola wordmark used from 1898 until 1905.
In 1903, Bradham moved the bottling of Pepsi-Cola from his drugstore to a rented warehouse.
That year, Bradham sold 7,968 gallons of syrup. The next year, Pepsi was sold in six-ounce
bottles, and sales increased to 19,848 gallons. In 1909, automobile race pioneer Barney Oldfield
was the first celebrity to endorse Pepsi-Cola, describing it as "A bully drink...refreshing,
invigorating, a fine bracer before a race." The advertising theme "Delicious and Healthful" was
then used over the next two decades.

Conclusion
I believe that Pepsi has made its mark by integrating its marketing plans through the public and
a massive social media campaign was established. This campaign was tested in 2010 and with
the numbers of sales and market share it was a massive loss but i believe if Pepsi communicates
with its target audiences and the upgraded campaign they have established this year that they
will see a massive change for the better. The number of Pepsi's Facebook fans has grown to
over six million and a recent study from Forbes and the Reputation Institute also found that
Pepsi jumped to the No. 5 spot from No. 16 among the Americas most trustworthy brands and
this is a big thanks to the Pepsi Refresh effort.
