Introduction

Up to this day, a lot of people are still clueless or confused on how the solar
system was formed and eventually evolved. For some, the beginning of life on earth is
still a mystery waiting to be discovered. The two videos shows why history took 13.7
billion years to evolve from the Big Bang to what we have at present day. Hopefully,
these videos would give the answers to all our questions about the world we are living in
today and what surrounds us.

Main Body of the Paper

In the start of the video, which is 13.7 Billion years before us, they first introduced
the infant universe; a universe that was believed to be smaller than an atom containing a
bundle of energy. Up until today, it is said that everything that ever exists started here.
Until one day, the universe went from a size as smaller than an atom to eventually
greater than a galaxy in less than a second. This is known as the big bang theory. After
the big bang, the first atom was introduced: the Hydrogen. As scientists say, the
universe will use hydrogen to make everything in the world around us.

13.4 Billion years before us, hydrogen atoms slam together forming a new element
called helium. Also, during this time, the first stars were born. Now, there are new
beacons of lighting shining fourth, distributing energy into the universe. Although there
are billions of stars present, there are still no known planets. Stars are known to be
element factories, they fuse hydrogen into helium, helium into lithium forging 25 of the
most common elements we need to live; which includes, carbon, oxygen, nitrogen and
iron. After a few million years after the first starts were discovered, they exploded. These
explosions are known as supernovas. Supernovas are essential to mankind because
they fuse extra boosts of energy needed to fuse heavier elements, and we all know, the
human body is built up of different elements. 5 billion years after, the element factories
continued their work. Stars exploded and are reborn.

4.6 billion years ago, there are finally more materials gathered for the next step, on the
path to us, a new star was born and this is what we call now as the sun. The sun is a
massive star that gathered up to 99.9% of the gas and dust in the solar system. But
there are just enough left behind for gravity to build some other things; like planets. The
third one out from this star; will be our home; planet earth. These supernovas are known
to have caused the spinning disc of gas and dust particles called solar nebula. As time
goes by and with gravity, these particles are put clump together forming objects and
eventually formed the planets that we have today.
4.5 billion years ago, almost two-thirds of the history of the earth has already past. At
this time, the world is spinning too rapidly that a day only last for 6 hours; and on top of
that, the earth was comprised of mainly molten lava and rapids of black volcanic rocks.
There were literally nothing much to do on planet earth that that time. Within the liquefied
rocks are the elements in jumble. Something has to bring order out of this chaotic
situation, and once again, Gravity has to do its job. With the presence of gravity, lighter
material drifts to the other surface and forms a solid crust; while heavier material sinks
towards the center forming a molten iron nickel crust. The liquid metal creates a
magnetic field that reaches out into space; that will protect our future home from the sun.
This will allow for life to grow.

A few years after that comes the formation of the moon. An object as big as the size of
mars, smashes into the planet at 25,000 miles per hour. Because of this, debris wiped
off into space. In no less than a year, gravity gathers these debris into a secondary
sphere in orbit around the earth where it has been ever since. In present time, the moon
plays a vital role in today’s climate. This is because the moon keeps the earth steady
which prevents it from wobbling. The wobbling of earth may cause extreme climate
swings. To add, the collision that formed the moon leaves the earth tilted on its axis.
With the presence of the moon, the earth has now more lengthened hours from just 6
hours a day to 24 hours because the changing seasons.

700,000 years after the planets first formed, life on earth begins. This was possible due
to the evaporation of water vapor that lead to puddles, lakes and eventually oceans.
Eventually, oxygen was discovered and over the next 2 billion years, life becomes more
complex, skies become blue, so does the ocean that reflect them, large solid continents
appear. Countless explosions like the Cambrian Explosion, biology’s version of the big
bang happened were most of the major animal groups evolved and then after, the rest is
history.

Conclusion

After watching the two videos, I have realized that the formation and evolution of
the solar system did not happen in a blink of an eye. Countless years have passed
before we even reached the amount of discoveries that we have today. As a student, I
realized the importance of studying lessons like these; I learned that in this universe,
there are endless possibilities. Anything can happen, it is important to know how all of it
started to be able to create ways to protect and preserve what we have today for the
future generations to come. Also, I have come to a conclusion that we should never stop
learning and discovering. A lot can still happen in this world and we should all be
cooperative and knowledgeable enough to discover new and amazing phenomenon and
theories.
