CCSS: RL 1.2 Students will demonstrate
understanding of a story’s central message
or theme by using supporting details from
the text.
Strategy: Students will use the sentence frames:
The theme of this text is ______________.
I know this because _________________.
We will focus on the themes: patience,
acceptance, friendship, courage, and love.
CCSS: Measurement and Data
1.MD.1 Order three objects by length, compare the lengths of
two objects indirectly by using a third object.
1.MD.2 Express the length of an object as whole number of
length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length
unit) end to end understand that the length measurement of an
object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no
gaps or overlaps.

 Tuesday is our Christmas celebration. We will
do crafts and have treats. Students may wear
and we’ll see you back in
pajamas and bring one stuffed animal if they’d the New Year on Monday,
like. We may watch a traditional holiday movie
or two. January 7, 2019.
 If you’re sending snacks, treats, or gifts for
Tuesday, please have enough for 24 students.
 I will be giving each student a new, non-fiction
book similar to what we’ve been reading in
class. It won’t be wrapped, because I am
letting them choose.
 Please join me in wishing Mr. Casaus the very
best as he leaves Monte Vista. Once a wolf,
always a wolf! The principal position will be
posted, and interviews will happen in January. Habit 4:
 Wednesday dismissal is at 11:00. Think Win-Win
