On the evening of 12/18/18, Michael and "N.G.G." attended a charity function in Seattle, leaving "N.M.G." at home alone. They returned to 4701 Smithers Ave
S at about 2000 hrs, and found the side door that was usually left unlocked to access the house locked. On entering the house, Michael found Svetlana inside
the house. Svetlana was holding a Taser, and used it on Michael. Svetlana used zip-ties to bind both Michael and "N.M.G". Svetlana drew a pistol, and told
Michael that she was going to shoot him because he had ruined her life.
"N.G.G." had gone to her upstairs bedroom, and at 2013 hrs, she called 911. "N.G.G." told the call receiver that Svetlana had a Taser, and had zip-tied
"N.M.G.", who was upstairs with "N.G.G.". At 2019 hrs, "N.G.G." told the call receiver that Michael had just screamed that Svetlana had a gun. At 2025 hrs,
"N.G.G." advised the call receiver that Svetlana was now upstairs, and "N.G.G." pocketed her phone, with the line still open. At 2026 hrs, the call receiver could
hear the sound of Svetlana yelling in the background, asking where the phone was. At 2028, the call receiver could hear Svetlana saying, "You called 911",
and then saying something about "Blow your head off". This was followed by what sounded over the open line like zip-ties being secured, and then a loud
sound similar to a door slamming. This was followed by screaming about someone possibly being dead.
As Officers approached at 2032 hrs, Michael came to the door, his legs still secured with zip-ties. Michael surrendered a pistol to the Officers; Officers noted
that the pistol was jammed. Svetlana was also detained, and "N.M.G" removed from the house, still secured with zip-ties. In her upstairs bedroom, Officers
found "N.G.G." dead, with a gunshot wound to the head. They also recovered a Taser inside the house.
Michael told the Officers that after Svetlana said that she was going to shoot him, she took zip-ties upstairs, leaving him still tied downstairs. Michael heard the
sound of a single gunshot, and then Svetlana returned to the main floor of the house, and tried to fire the gun at Michael. The gun failed to fire, with Svetlana
struggling to clear the malfunction in the pistol. Michael rammed Svetlana into the wall with his shoulder, and was able to grab the pistol. At that point, the
Officers arrived and ordered everyone out of the house.
A child interviewer spoke with "N.M.G.", who gave the following account. Michael and "N.G.G." had gone to the function in Seattle, but "N.M.G." stayed home
to work on homework. Svetlana came to the door, and "N.M.G." allowed her into the house. Svetlana had only been to the house once, about eight months
prior; she asked "N.M.G." to show her around the house. Svetlana had brought some of "N.M.G."s clothing over, and told him that this was a Christmas gift.
When "N.M.G." remarked that the clothes were his used ones, Svetlana told him that she had lost her job, and this was all she could afford. Svetlana then
walked "N.M.G." upstairs to his bedroom, and zip-tied his legs together, and his hands behind his back. Svetlana stuffed a sock into "N.M.G."s mouth, and
taped it into place. She later removed the sock, but showed "N.M.G." the Taser, and threatened to use it on him if he made any noise. Svetlana started ranting
about how Michael had ruined her life. At some point, Michael and "N.G.G." returned home, and Svetlana left "N.M.G." to confront them downstairs. "N.M.G."
heard "N.G.G." run into her bedroom with the phone, and after some minutes heard Svetlana confront her. "N.M.G." heard Svetlana ordering "N.G.G." to let
Svetlana zip-tie her as well, and heard "N.G.G." attempting to reason with Svetlana. "N.M.G." heard Svetlana say something about doing as she said, or she
would blow her head off. Seconds later, "N.M.G." heard a single gunshot. When he heard Svetlana go downstairs, "N.M.G." hopped to "N.G.G."s room, and
saw that her head was covered in blood. "N.M.G." then hopped down the stairs, where the Officers contacted him.
