Michelle Obama opens up international foundation

Around the world, there
are over 98 million adoles-
cent girls who are not in
school. If these girls were
to receive an education, the
amount of girls in pov-
erty would be cut in half,
lifetime earnings would
increase by $15-30 trillion,
and child marriage would
be virtually eliminated.
This is exactly what the
Global Girls Alliance,
a foundation recently
created by former first lady
Michelle Obama, plans to
help with. They claim to
“empower adolescent girls
around the world through
education, allowing them
to achieve their full po-
tential and transform their
families, communities, and
countries.”
Access to an education
has been something taken
for granted by many stu-
dents in America, espe-
cially at Amador. “School,
especially in our area, has
prepared me with life skills
on both how to work with
President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting in Beijing in 2017.
China expected to overtake U.S. economy

Although the United
States has been the top
world economy for over a
century, China is predicted
to become the world’s larg-
est producer by 2022.
As of now, the Gross
Domestic Product(GDP)
of the China is $12.24
trillion, compared to the
United States at $19.39
trillion, according to the
International Monetary
Foundation.
The country’s growth
is based on a few funda-
mental parts of a national
economy.
First, China has a popula-
tion about four times the
size of the United States
at 1.4 billion citizens.
This means that China
has more people to work,
trade, build infrastructure,
generate wages, exploit re-
sources, buy products, and
pursue higher education.
In fact, China produces
more university students
than the European Union
and the United States
combined, giving it a
major potential in all fields.

States remains the larg-
est exporter in the world,
along with the highest

Yet, If China desires to
trump the world’s largest
economy, all it needs to do
is continue on the path it is
currently on.

Midterm elections of
Donald Trump’s presi-
dential term took place
on November 6, 2018 and
grabbed attention of mil-
lions of people throughout
the world. 35 of the 100
seats in the United States
Senate and all 435 seats in
the United States House
of Representatives were
contested.
34 of the 50 U.S. states
elect their governors for
four-year terms during
midterm elections and Ver-
mont and New Hampshire
elect governors to two-year
terms in both midterm
and presidential elections.
36 governors are elected
during midterm elections.
Many states also elect
officers to their state leg-
islatures in midterm elec-
tions. On the ballots are
mayors, local public offices,

they won in 2010.
The raw vote margin is
more than nine million,
which is the largest gap
between the two parties
in the history of midterm
elections. The 8.1% spread
between Democrats and
Republicans is a larger per-
centage-point divergence
than in any wave midterm
election including 1994 ,
2006 , 2010, and 2014.

Garcia (‘20). The money
raised by the Global Girls
Alliance will help greatly
to combat these issues
and in turn allow a great
number of girls to receive
an education.
Through empower-
ment, engagement, and
education, Global Girls
Alliance hopes to change
these long-standing issues
that girls have faced while
trying to receive an edu-
cation. By doing so, they
plan to improve the lives of
countless girls and, in turn,
the entire world.

party won with 53.2% of
total popular vote and the
Republican Party won with
45.1% of total popular
votes.
It looks like the 2018
midterm elections was
a pivotal moment in the
future of America’s politics,
and we will have to wait
and see how these deci-
sions will affect the next
presidential election in
2020.
