No. L-1/18/2010-CERC Dated: 28" April, 2010 PREAMBLE The Indian Electricity Grid Code (IEGC) is a regulation made by the Central Commission in exercise of powers under clause () of sub-section (1) of Section 79 read with clause (g) of sub-section (2) of Section 178 of the Act. The IEGC also lays down the rules, guidelines and standards to be followed by various persons and participants in the system to plan, develop, maintain and operate the power system, in the most secure, reliable, economic and efficient ‘manner, while facilitating healthy competition in the generation and supply of electricity. NOTIFICATION In exercise of powers conferred under clause (h) of sub-section (1) of Section 79 read with clause (g) of sub-section (2) of Section 178 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (36 of 2003), and 86 | Compendium of CERC Regulations, July-2016,_, 1 EGC Regulations, 2010 all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission hereby makes the following regulations. 1. Short title, extent and commencement (1) These Regulations may be called the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Indian Electricity Grid Code) Regulations, 2010. (2) These Regulations shall come into force from [3.5.2010]° (3) These regulations shall supersede the Indian Electricity Grid Code, 2006 which came into effect from 1.4.2006. 2.
