THE TIME DISSIMILARITIES OF THE EARLY INITIATION OF


BREASTFEEDING BETWEEN PURE BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS AND THE
MOTHERS WHO BREASTFEED AND GIVE BABY MILK TO THEIR BABIES
AFTER CHILDBIRTH IN BPM (CITIZEN SERVICE CENTER) OF WEST
PURWOKERTO IN 2014

ABSTRACT
Background: The behavior of baby feeding after childbirth will affect the phase of
breastfeeding, such as Colostrum, Early Breastfeeding and Mature Breastfeeding. In the Early
Breastfeeding, the mother’s milk is white which is produced on 4th day until 10th after
childbirth.
The Objective of the Research: The objective is finding out the time dissimilarities of the
early initiation of breastfeeding between pure breastfeeding mothers and the mothers who
breastfeed and give baby milk to their babies after childbirth in BPM (Citizen Service Center)
of West Purwokerto in 2014.
Research Method: It is non-experimental research which uses cross sectional approach. The
sampling technique used is accidental random sampling. The samples are 30 people of 10th
day postpartum mothers. The data analysis uses univariate and bivariate analysis with T 2n
independent test.
Result: The result is got in the early initiation of breastfeeding of pure breastfeeding mothers
on the 4th day (9 respondents (60%)) and on the 5th day (6 respondents (40%)) and of the
mothers who breastfeed and give baby milk to their babies on the 6th day (1 respondent
(6.7%)), on the 7th day (13 respondents (86.7%)), on the 8th day (1 respondent (6.7%)) after
childbirth. There are time dissimilarities of the early initiation of breastfeeding between pure
breastfeeding mothers and the mothers who breastfeed and give baby milk to their babies
after childbirth (p-sign 0,000).
Kesimpulan: There are the time dissimilarities of the early initiation of breastfeeding
between pure breastfeeding mothers and the mothers who breastfeed and give baby milk to
their babies after childbirth in BPM (Citizen Service Center) of West Purwokerto in 2014.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The pattern of feeding in the newborn stage will affect the stage of spending
mother's milk colostrum covering, transition breast milk and mature breast milk. Mother's
milk is a transitional white milk produced on day 4 to day 10 postpartum.
Objective: Know time difference spending time early transition breast milk between
postpartum women gives only the breast milk with formula in BPM region in the west of
Purwokerto year 2014
Methods: The study was a non-experimental study with cross sectional approach. The
sample used was accidental random sampling, the sample is puerperal women aged 10 days
postpartum. The sample in this study was 30 respondents. Analysis of research data using
univariate and bivariate analysis with 2n independent T test.
Results: Results obtained when the initial expenditure on the transition breastfeeding
postpartum women who give only breast milk is the day 4 by 9 respondents (60%) and 5th
postpartum much as 6 respondents (40%), postpartum mothers who breast feed Formula is on
day 6 by 1 respondent (6.7%), all 7 postpartum were 13 respondents (86.7%) and 8 by 1
respondent (6.7%). There is a time difference between the initial outlay transition
breastfeeding postpartum women who give only breast milk in the breastfeeding + Formula
(p-sign 0,000)
Conclusion: there is a time difference spending time early transition breast milk between
postpartum women gives only the breast milk with formula in BPM region in the west of
Purwokerto
