in their student's book.
- Students complete the activity individually and then compare
answers in pairs.

answers.

aloud.
- Students take turns reading their descriptions to the class for

mental imagery.

Activities Aim: to review animals
• Elicit the animals students know onto the board.
• Ask students if they are all the same. Prompt them to think of
differences, e.g. Some can fly. Some have babies.
2. Main Activities
Listen and read about animal family groups.
Aim: to introduce the concept of animal groups
• Play the recording. Students follow the text silently in
their Student’s Books.
• Check understanding with reference to the Warm-up activity.
Look at some groups and write the missing features.
Aim: to enable students to consolidate the concept of
animal groups
Thinking skill: applying world knowledge
• Read the family name of each group aloud and discuss the features
given and the example animals.
Look and stick in the animal family groups.
Aim: to review and extend what students have learnt
about family groups
Thinking skills: classifying and categorizing
• Students prepare their stickers (tortoise, toucan, bee,
cow, penguin, fly, snake, fox).

Aim: to enable students to listen and visualize and to
create their own pictures
• Play the recording. At the end of the recording, speak quietly and
tell students to listen again and imagine.
Tell them they are going to draw the picture from their heads.
3. Closing Activity
- Display students’ pictures from SB Activity 2 on tables or on the
walls.
- Have students go around and see how many different animal
combinations they can find.
- Ask students which pictures use the same animals.
- Class is dismissed.
