Introduction/1
A comprehensive hydrogeological model requires a wide range of
information, i.e. geological, geographical, hydrochemical or
hydrogeological etc. Each field complements the interpretation of the
others fields. For example, a hydrogeological characterization from a
studied area (e.g. piezometry) can be complemented and validated with
the generation of a hydrochemical and geological analysis .

Objectives
The general aim of this tutorial is to introduce AkvaGIS Database
structure and the Hydrogeological tools.
Subfolder1 - Ex1
HydrogeologicalPointsMeasurementsTest.csv is a cvs file
which contains information related with values of the
observation and the date of the observation (of the head);
HydrogeologicalPointsObservationsTest.csv is a cvs file which
contains information related with Interval of time of the
observation and Point where the head measurement where
done;
PointsTest.csv is a cvs file which contains information related
with geographical information where hydrogeological field
tests was made;
BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR DECIMAL POINTS DEFINED IN YOUR OS !!
For further details of the AkvaGIS DataBase (structure and fields), please
see the User Manual Vol4.
*These files follows the structure of the database of AkvaGIS. 7

Entering the data into the AkvaGIS
DataBase
The order to store new data in the different
tables is:

Entering the data into the AkvaGIS
DataBase
Please, notice that:
The essential workflow to introduce the data coming from the hydrogeological data is:
1. Firstly, any new point has to be introduced in Point table, then if it is a observation
point please, define this point in HydrogeologicalPointsObservaions table.
2. Define a new campaign in Campaign Table if you are adding new analysis for a new
campaign.
3. Introduce the information about the Observation in each point (piezometer or well)
in HydrogeologicalPointsObservations Table . For instance, size, date, the procedure
used to collect all the data (previously introduce any new procedure in Procedures
table if you need it).

FREEWAT Development has received funding from the following projects:
1. Hydrological part has been developed starting from a former project, named SID&GRID, funded by Regione Toscana through EU
POR-FSE 2007-2013 (sidgrid.isti.cnr.it).
2. Porting of SID&GRID under QGis has been performed through funds provided by Regione Toscana to Scuola Superiore S.Anna -
Project Evoluzione del sistema open source SID&GRID di elaborazione dei dati geografici vettoriali e raster per il porting negli
ambienti QGis e Spatialite in uso presso la Regione Toscana (CIG: ZA50E4058A)
3. Latest Version of FREEWAT is under development within EU H2020 project FREEWAT - Free and Open Source Software Tools for
Water Resource Management. FREEWAT project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and
innovation programme under grant agreement n. 642224 (www.freewat.eu)
