22mm wrench.

22 For cars with EGR remove the EGR temp sensor

connector.

23 There are 7 bolts holding the intake manifold to the engine, only the top row of bolts require removal,
the intake manifold lower bolt holes are slotted so the manifold can lift off them even while they are
still screwed into the cylinder head.

24 Loosed all 7 bolts and remove the three bolts on the top row of the intake manifold. You can use a
10mm wrench and socket to access them as shown.

manifold to its support bracket, it is hard to see so
you’ll be working blind. Note the angle and depth
of the wrench in the picture for reference to the
bolts location.

29 Lift the manifold up slightly to access the vacuum

line on the passenger side and remove it.

30 Now slip the upper engine ventilation hose down

through the manifold as shown.

10 • Phenolic Spacer ©2010 ipd, PI-393

INSTALLATION
31 Lift the manifold up and using a cord or strap secure it up out
of the way, pay attention to the remaining vacuum lines and
position of the manifold so you have room to work without
stressing the lines as they may be brittle from age.

32 Remove the remaining intake manifold bolts and

intake manifold gasket.

33 Locate the intake manifold support bracket,

remove the 12mm bolt holding it to the engine
block.

44 Reinstall the oil dipstick tube with the supplied O-ring and its 12mm bolt. Tighten to 12 ft lbs

45 The spacing of the manifold will move the dipstick tube away from the block by 10mm, this can
be combated by reinstalling the dipstick tube slightly rotated clockwise and adjusting the bracket
downward by approx 0.250 inch.

46 Reinstall the fuel rail and injectors, use some light lubricant to lubricate the injector o-rings prior to
installation.

47 Reconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line to the vacuum tree

48 Reinstall the two 10mm bolts to the fuel rail and tighten to 8 ft lbs

49 Reconnect the injector harness to all 5 injectors.
